I don't think fatigue is a big factor. We seem to do enough substituting to keep our legs fresh enough.

Average minutes played is 29.9 for Royce White, 29.4 for Chris Allen, 29.9 for Scott Christopherson and 32.2 for Chris Babb.

Coaching.

We either a.) go into a conservative lead-preservation mode or b.) the opposition takes away something that was working in the 1st half and we don't adjust properly.

Hoiberg is still learning. I think he's getting better, but something like problem "a" above has been plaguing ISU sports for a long time, as mentioned above.

I think this is spot on, in Freddies 2 years we've had hard time finishing off games. To me it's not a knock on the coaching staff, its just that as a program that killer instinct hasn't been developed. Its really encouraging that the last 2 games we've shown we can come out fighting with the best teams in the conference, the next step is putting 40 minutes together on a consistant basis. I think thats coming sooner rather than later.

Which isn't all that bad. They shouldn't be getting fatigued playing 30 minutes a game. Especially for Scotty who played something like 37 minutes a game last year, he should be use to that by now.

Whether you want to attribute it to fatigue of not the %s don't lie. We are 30-52 (58%) from 3pt range in the 1st half versus 9-43 (21%) in the 2nd half.

If we want to improve our 2nd half performance we need to stop shooting threes and get the ball to the basket. We need to stop settling for the easy shot and work harder for a higher % shot.

Either do I, we go deeper than Mizzou did, they had guys foul out/in foul trouble and they still finished strong despite guys giving them big minutes.

You don't have a 37% decline in three point % between halves because you suddenly forgot how to shoot.

I think fatigue has been an issue both last year and this year.

Perhaps mental toughness is the real problem, the ability to mentally push through the physical fatigue and continue to play at a high level. Kind of mind over matter.

But you can have a 37% decline because you stopped running the offense and taking 3's in the flow of the game and started just jacking up bad shots. There is a reason they call them bad shots - there isn't a good probability of them going in.

Exactly. You have to be smart enough to understand that when you are fatigued making jump shots will not be as easy. It takes mental toughness not to succumb to temptation of settling for the easier to achieve three point shot as opposed to working for the higher % shot at the basket.
