Are okoro, SDW, or naz long going to get any significant minutes next year or are they going to sit on the bench like Tavon Sledge is this year? I would like to see these guys get at least 5 minutes a game.

I agree. Ejim starts next year.

I think he does at the begining of the year, I don't think he does by the end of the season. And that's probably a good thing, you want to be constantly bringing in better players and when that happens you recruit over guys, I think Ejim will be one of those guys.

Just got a smile thinking about our roster next year.

White
Ejim
Babb
Booker
Bubu
Railey (maybe)
Gibson
Sledge
Okoro
Niang
Long
Dorsey-Walker
McGee
Clyburn
Luscious

Of course there may be some attrition. But this roster is probably the most talented we've ever been.

I will respectfully disagree and say that our elite 8 team is the most talented we ever had. Next years team will be fun to watch though. Cant wait to see Luscious at PG and Clyburn.

to be honest I would redshirt all of them except Niang. Bubu will back up Lucious next year. Naz would be the third string PG. Babb and Mcgee will occupy the SG minutes. Dorsey-Walker and Okoro would be 3rd & 4th string. Then at the wing Clyburn & Ejim would play. Okoro would be third string SF. PF Royce, Ejim, and then Niang depending on how good he is would be second or third string. Then at C Gibson and Booker and Niang could also play there.

I could see us redshirting 2 of the 4. Naz and Dorsey-Walker. Naz because he would be third string and is a true point. Dorsey-Walker because he is skinny and is a pure shooter which we already have 2 pure shooters that are seniors in front of him. Okoro I have heard is big 12 ready with his build and can play the 2 or 3 because of his size and athleticism. Niang will play because he is 68th overall and wouldn't be as far down on the depth chart. Plus he can also play two positions.

I think White would be better at a PF spot than a center. Put Gibson in to give us another big body.

PG - Lucious, Bubu
SG - Babb, McGee
SF - Clyburn
PF - White, Ejim
C - Gibson, Ejim

I don't see a lot of opportunities for the freshmen to break onto the lineup much next year. I would think they'll get some time just because we'll need them ready for '13, but that's the only reason I wouldn't redshirt all but one or two of them. I don't see many teams going more than 8-9 deep.

I can see Korie making a big jump similar to what we saw with Diante Garrett. KL has a better skillset to start out with as well. We wont need KL to score as much, but his pure ballhandling skills will be huge for the whole team.

And so it starts...

Please stop this predictions of greatness stuff. You see how it affected these boards this season.

You still see the folks that went crazy with their pre-season predictions losing their minds when we lose a game.

I can make whatever kind of predictions I want. It's not my fault some people can't handle their emotions when their lofty expectations fail.

Last year at this time we were doing the exact same thing. We are always looking to the future. Lets be happy with what we have this year

Niang will play a lot. Pretty hard to do from the 10th (or lower) spot.

I hope so. What I like about the rotation I posted is that they've all played high-level college ball before. There aren't any question marks other than chemistry in that lineup.

But I hope one or more of the newcomers force their way into the lineup. That's nothing but a good thing.

I like Percy, but I could see him getting much less PT next year.

I was thinking more about it after posting last night and what I would love to see happen is for Booker to put it all together, have a great offseason and take the starting '5' spot. Then Niang steps in as the first post off the bench and our pure energy/defense bench would consist of Bubu, McGee, Ejim and Niang.

I wouldn't redshirt any of them. No chance...no way. Caveat: player's request.

We'll need them to contribute heavily the following year and I want them as experienced as they can get.

I don't think that fred is a huge fan of redshirting. I think all of them will see the floor next year to give them a little experience, because in 2013 we are going to need all the experience we can get.

it really is the one true constant in life - no matter who is on the team, what year, what recruits, etc.....someone always thinks someone is going to redshirt. never fails.

I really like Percy's touch around the rim and his footwork. I see lots of potential there once he fully adjusts to the college game.
Call me crazy, but I think he will end up being better than Brackins was on the block. He will never have Brackins' jump shot though.

Royce will come back. His shot needs to get better before thinking about moving on. When his collegiate career is said and done, I think he has the tool to be a lottery pick.

You dont redshirt Big 12 kids, you can get away with that in the Missouri Valley but not the Big 12, these kids all think they have the tools to play right away, its their mentality typically. A redshirt is likely considered an insult and an invitation to transfer. I prefer Fred's current invitation to transfer, you dont play aka Tavon and Jordan. Those 2 arent gonna be back.

With such a deep athletic roster maybe we'll actually see some more consistant full court pressure. Thought we'd see more of that this year.

I thought that, too. Almost forgot about it. Obviously couldn't do it last season to fight back into games, with zero depth.

I thought the depth would allow more full-court, especially when the offense is in a halfcourt funk. My guess is, Fred had to get the half-court defense solidified more first. That has made some good strides in the last month, I think.

Maybe we'll start seeing it more often.
