I hadn't looked at Sagarin for several weeks.
Nice to look at these things in February and see Iowa State in top 50, as opposed to 80s or lower.
They help to determine who wins the conference. :smile:Conference standings mean absolutely nothing. I repeat ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
I know fans wouldn't want to see ISU get a lower seed than Texas & KSU if we finished higher in conference standings — but that does happen sometimes. I think that'll take care of itself, one way or the other.
As far as securing a tournament bid, it doesn't hurt ISU that those teams have good numbers, especially since we'll do no worse than 2-2 head-to-head. We should want KSU to stay high; that's another potential high-quality road win.

Well certainly, but for the NCAA tournament they literally mean absolutely nothing. The committee has proven many times that conference standings are not taken into account.
I agree. And it leads to some real head-scratchers sometimes.Well certainly, but for the NCAA tournament they literally mean absolutely nothing. The committee has proven many times that conference standings are not taken into account.
Have you ever seen a top 10 team this late in the year that looks more vulnerable then Baylor does? Don't be shocked if ISU goes down to Waco tonight and beats them. Baylor is REALLY struggling right now.
And not a word on the ESPN headlines about a #3 matchup in the Big 12.
They must be straining themselves to not talk about the #6 team in the country trying to keep hold of #3 in the conference, against a team of nobodies (well, besides Rolls Royce White).
It's almost comical.
And then the media will swarm around, wondering "Who are these guys?"
Man, I REALLY want the Drake, UNI, and Michigan games back now.
what's comical is the fan obsession over espn not talking about iowa state every single second. they've written about us plenty, all season long. we win, they'll write about us some more.
we're not on the bubble (we're already on the good side of the bracket), we didn't win a road game, we didn't beat a ranked team, etc. what are they supposed to say?
