I've thought that this program was missing a long, shot blocking type. Even if he is limited offensively to dunks and putbacks he would help tremendously.

Definitely pumped about the potential. Sure, some question marks, but when you're ISU, you go for it.

My question: Why aren't the big hitters (KU, Duke, UNC, Kentucky, UCLA ect) going after him?

I can only surmise that the academic risk is scaring them away. He did fail to qualify last year, after all.

My guess... because he burned St. Johns by being ineligible. Those programs can easily find a much safer bet with 5-star talent at his position so there isn't much need to take a risk with him.

He had offers from UCLA and KU last year.

Can you imagine how a true 5 like this would compliment Royce? If you're trying to defend Royce driving to the hoop, you have to pick which player you want to stop and allow the other to posterize your defender as he comes over late.

His length and ability to get above the rim, would make Ejim look like a 7th grader.

Don't understand where this guy fits. I think he would add something that we haven't had in a long time with a shot altering defensive presence, but where's the room?

I think that's the main thing we're missing. I think we're missing it even more than a PG this year. Our interior defense is our biggest weakness. Melvin is a good player, but ideally him or Royce would be matched up with a better defender. Getting this guy into school would be huge!

If it's one thing I'm sure of is that Fred has a plan.

It always works out in the end.

Yep. If Fred has shown one thing this year, it's that he can find a way to make non-obvious pieces fit together. If Pelle comes in he'd have an embarassment of riches to work with next year, and I think we'd actually go 2 deep at every position.

5- Pelle/Gibson
4- White/Booker
3- Ejim/Clyburn
2- Babb/McGee
1- Lucious/Long

So I actually think Pelle could fit in pretty well, but guys like Niang, Okoro, SDW, Railey, Bubu, and Sledge would have trouble seeing the floor (although at least one would have to leave for the scholarships to work out, I believe).
