I belong over there. It's like $100 for the year so it's not breaking the bank. I like both boards and check both frequently. Paul has a lot of loyal customers who have been with him for a long time.

a pay site for public info is a bad business model,........ nearly all info is becoming public in minutes, even seconds, these days ------ adapt or die. On recruiting....... why do you need someone to call recruits to see their position on a school, their star #s or even their hi-lite tape when they let the world know themselves via twitter, you tube, etc., etc??

You don't have an axe to grind re: CR.com either...

I have a buddy who has a CR subscription for recruiting purposes/to escape Hawk fans/read the nuggets of info about stuff like coaching searches/realignment and he says the level of "crazy" out of our fans over there is pretty high. There are all kinds of rivalries and childish crap between posters, as well as a bunch of guys who think their crazy opinions are more valid because they pay to post them.

I guess, the point is that A) when you eliminate one evil on the internet, another is created and B) there are trolls everywhere.

It was like this a year ago when I left. I still maintain that CR is why I'm quite frequently an a-hole on this site. I can't seem to shake it.

Paul blocked me on Twitter late last fall, when I went after him early in the basketball season because he was saying the team wasn't a NCAA tourney team (after the Drake loss I believe) and those of us that think so should stop drinking the Kool Aid. However he said it in such away that was so disrespectful that he actually deleted the tweet. When I gloated about him deleting the tweet, I got blocked. Eh...life goes on.

Oh, I guess now would be a good time to point out the Cyclones will be in the NCAA tournament.

Don't feel bad. He blocked me as well when I asked him if he was at the OK St fb game. He is quick on the ban trigger.

does not diminish my points unless you'd like to buy some FLA swamp land

I'm no fan of CR.com, but I disagree about your point. Rivals is a pretty big network and there are and will continue to be people who are willing to pay for the content they provide, whether it's recruiting info/updates or "premium message boards".

I was a member over there for 7-8 years until recently. I feel like Paul got the number of subscribers he needed to pay the bills and then put the site on cruise control. Just enough stories to know it's there but really not worth paying for. Also, in Jan 2011 he wrote an article basically admitting he had been lazy and how things were going to change and those changes lasted about 2 weeks. I think it was called "Five for five" or something. I like Paul's work and liked the site, but there wasn't enough unique content to justify paying for.

let's not argue, let's just watch and see.................. http://www.investorplace.com/2012/02/yahoo-yhoo-only-weapon-against-facebook-litigation/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+InvestorPlace+%28InvestorPlace%29 to be successful rivals needs to morph to a social network that more closely involves the recruits themselves ........ no middle person is needed. It is probably too late.

It is good that Paul is not allowing copy and pasting of articles from this or other sites. On the other hand about a third of the dwindling content on CR has ISU Athletics listed as an author. Maybe he pays for those, or they are free to copy, I have no idea.

I agree. I'm a member over there (under a different handle). The premium message board doesn't do much for me. Yeah, you get some decent and more informed threads, but it's not much better than here and there definitely aren't as many voices or opinions. And I believe that this site does a decent job of keeping the worst hok trolls at bay.

I subscribe for the recruiting info. Not only the stories, but the videos. I LOVE following FB recruiting and that is far and away the best source for it. Maybe Rivals has lost some luster due to recruits posting on twitter and posting videos on youtube, but if you are just depending on those things, you are missing a ton of information. For $100 a year, the recruiting info is worth it for me.

As others have said, left behind a paywall helps to eliminate the trolls, this is a good social. However, the CF began to take off, it seems like the CR to pay for social justice is more narrow, more like an echo chamber.
