Can we get rid of the charge call?

This is the worst call in basketball, at all levels. Totally swings the game by taking away an offensive bucket a lot of the time. It usually goes to the home team. And it encourages flopping & faking. This isn't Hollywood, it is sports. I hate flops.

The worst part is that this year they added this zone where supposedly there is no charges to be called. Watch almost every charge and the dude's heels are always on the line but yet, surprising, charge call. Refs totally ignore the stripe on the court, it is pathetic.

Seems charge/block is a "missed" call just as often as it is called correctly. I don't agree with your logic, but I do agree with your idea.

We probably still lose. Scotty kept dribbling into no-man's land, and turning it over.

But I just really hate the charge call in general.

While the charge call has F'd us over all year, no, it can't be taken away. It's a great play when called correctly. And we did have a few charges tonight but some of those shouldn't have been called.

I think it should only be called if the offensive player is out of control when a defender is actually trying to play defense. The sliding underneath a player going up for a shot in hopes of getting a charge call is ridiculously dumb.

Hahaha.

Amen, let's get rid of the charge call.

And let's get rid of that pesky 3 point line! EMAW!

And who the hell decided to take the bottom off those peach baskets?!?

Here's a concept, why don't we teach some of our guys to stop their stupid out of control drives by taking a charge.

Once again I must point out lack of rules knowledge. The circle applies to SECONDARY DEFENDERS. 1-1 plays, push-offs and lowered shoulders are still charges no matter what. And the line is there as a guideline, not a hard and fast rule, so a "heel on the line" doesn't matter. We can't win under the current rules so let's change them. Are you ******* kidding me?

People need to quit ******** about the refs every time we lose a game. It's ridiculous. Pick up a ******* rulebook, people, or, better yet, a whistle.

Please stop allowing defenders to plant their feet and intentionally draw charges. Worst thing in college basketball.

Charges should be called if an offensive player is out of control or pushes off etc.. just do NOT let defenders intentionally draw fouls this way. Lots of charges would be called still.

Something that will probably never change, but I think it would make things much better.

*side note* I think the officiating was just fine tonight, but just think this would clean up college basketball.

Maybe the worst thread ever. Get rid of the charge call. So you would make it legal to just ram rod your way over players? Horrible idea for the game and incredibly unsafe.

I need to stay away from this board on nights we lose because we get all of the freaking crazies posting...

The problem with the charge call this year is that it seems like, as long as the guys feet are outside the circle, if he falls over it's a charge. I've seen like 2 blocking calls all season, it's been ridiculous.
