No surprise. They've got a monopoly on the state and it shows. Why bother to have decent service or prices when you know people will accept whatever you give them.

I really wish somebody would come in with an ala carte type service. There are only a handful of cable channels I watch consistently.

Haha, I love the Mediacom comment after the story.

I THINK YOU PEOPLE ARE MISSING THE OVERALL THEME OF THE THREAD.

Until mediacom gets their act together we shouldn't be tipping mediacom servicemen?

Or since there is no competition for mediacom they can pretty get away with what they want.

I used to think it would happen but I don't know that I ever see it happening. Too many people with too much to lose.

Their service has gotten better, I've had several issues lately they've solved fairly quickly for me, the value is still pretty ****** though.

Fact is, for most people, especially if you watch sports, it would just end up costing more. The cost per channel would go up if you bought them individually.

I was a Mediacom customer for years until we moved a year ago. Despite the fact that my neighbor literally 50 feet from my house had Mediacom, I couldn't get it because they hadn't connected to my street yet. So we went with Qwest/DirecTV instead and we're not looking back.

Mediacom's issue is far from just being service-oriented. My service experiences with Mediacom have never been that bad. But they have no innovation to speak of. DirecTV seems to be rolling out some new feature every month or two - like a new digital TV guide, apps to watch your DVR programming on any device, etc. - and Mediacom does nothing.

I can't see myself going back.
