They actually have a ton of HD channels now. There is literally nothing that i watch that isnt in HD at this point.

As far as the quality of what i'm getting, i have no complaints at the moment. They are providing everything i want in HD and they are providing higher internet speeds than advertised now (they recently started overprovisioning modems)

While i'm happy, i wish i at least had the alternative of centurylink available. For some dumb reason my HOA has a deal with Hickory Tech, who maxes their dsl out at like 1mbps. If i went across the street centurylink has dsl available for much faster speeds.

Yeah, you have HD now. Even a year or two ago it was a different story.

Yeah, no. Ive had the vast, vast majority of channels i'd watch in HD for a long, long time. The only ones i didnt in hd get were a couple minor ones like espnu, which even directv got <2 years ago. Last year's additional HDs were also minor ones like disney, versus, and some other minor ones.

Its fine and all if you like your directv, but the exaggerations about how bad mediacom tv is get ridiculous. Not that mediacom doesnt have plenty of issues on the service side, but i find their tv side to be just fine.

I have Mediacom :biglaugh:

And I don't hate them as much as my post implied. Maybe I'm off, but I don't think I've had History HD for very long. Not near as long as the in-laws with DirectTV

I'll stop bagging on the content, and get back to the service, or lack thereof.

I think you might be exaggerating a bit. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they have added more than 6-8 HD channels within the last 2 years.

Either way, I don't have much of a problem with the cable other than the price. I will be getting more channels, WITH NFL Sunday Ticket, WITH DVR, WITH 4 total HD boxes from DirecTV for less than I am currently paying MC for 1 non-DVR box...

* & that will be cheaper for the duration of my 2 year contract *

As far as Mediacom goes....the only complaint I have is the price...but I got in on a good deal for internet...so can't complain about the price on that until it jacks up next year. But I don't have cable tv because of the cost. Just dont' see the need. If they offered the 11 or 12 dollar basic cable (like in CR/IC)I would spring for that....but not sure what I'll do next year when the cable goes up to $60 a month.

My biggest complaint with Mediacom was always that they just seemed shifty with their pricing. They don't list any rates on their website, they always seem vague about how their promotional rates work, they seem to constantly arbitrarily raise prices while still locking you into contract lengths. I think I would have kept giving them my money if they had been more upfront about their costs.

Ding ding ding.

When I first signed up, I got their regular internet (no modem rental), digital cable + sports pack, 1 DVR, 1 regular box. That was $99. Good deal.

12 months later, it went up to $135. My phone call was met with "Your promotional period has ended." What promotional period? Nobody ever said that the $99 was (A) a promotional rate or (B) that it was only good for one year.

Now it's pushing $165, even though I jettisoned the regular box and added no other services.

I know right, they probably listen to FM radio too, dinosaurs.

It's free, the Cyclones are broadcast on it (in better quality than the online paid alternative, FWIW) and school lunch menus.

Also, I don't get the last variable -
Cable/Satellite Programming : OTA TV/Internet Video = FM Radio: X

Until mediacom gets their act together we shouldn't be tipping mediacom servicemen?

Or since there is no competition for mediacom they can pretty get away with what they want.

I'm amazed that there is no competition in the entire state of Iowa. In my town in West Suburban Chicago, we have WOW, AT&T and Comcast. Verizon is coming in 12 months. Internet speeds are very competitive up to 50Mbps Download, with Verizon reportedly bringing faster. And prices are going down.

Concerned about price...refer to the ESPN/Fox thread.

I hate Mediacom because all I have/want is their cable internet yet I get a call monthly from someone in the south asking if I would like to bundle a telephone line. I asked nicely the first 3 months for them to stop calling about that because I was not interested...but they kept calling so I havent been so polite lately.
