We don't make our customers fat, but it's obvious Wendy's does.

I can't wait until we are getting a bigger paycheck than our stupid cousins to our east.
Yeah! The "My conference is better than your conference" argument! I love that one!
Like it is never done over on HN.... let's be serious.
I can't give you rep. That is an awesome avatar.I can't wait until we are getting a bigger paycheck than our stupid cousins to our east.
I'll give you a chance to apologize to me (or the baby) before owning you.It will still take time... Even if we get another 2 to 4 million a year, we'd still get less then Iowa does.
With the new tv deal, we're planning to get 20 million add 2 to 4 million to that, and we're still getting 2 million to 600,000 less then Iowa. Know something before blatantly posting something dumb.

Even if we still don't make as much as Iowa it will still be really interesting to see what Iowa State can do with its revenues now that the revenues are almost 3 times they were just a few years ago. I always thought given the athletic budget we had (which was awful for a BCS school), we did pretty decent. Soon we will have 3 times that!It will still take time... It is not impossible to think Iowa State can or should overcome Iowa as the primary Athletic and Academic institution in state...ISU already graduates more Iowans, being aligned with the second best football conference in the new era of Only Money Matters, everyone else can play on their own Cable Stations that no one will even know where to find is sea change for the prospects of Iowa State. Sure the Big 10 will always be in the conversation, but in name only. The elite athletic talent in this country resides in the South. Geographically, Iowa State is at a a big disadvantage to their southern counterparts - BUT NOT TO THE BIG 10. If the Big 12 is successful being the SEC's equal (or closest competition) in the coming decade, Iowa State being in the Big 12 will increase its profile, it will be on TV on Major Networks, it will compete for the best in state talent and most importantly attract kids that in the past may have been content to stay in the South in a lessor conference or go to what is currently a "higher profile" Northern School. No More. We may never be the elite in our conference year over year, but I have a good feeling we will be every bit of Iowa's equal and in time the IOWA State school. There is very little difference in the talent in the two programs now, with more money and more time, well - let it be so.
We have to win games consistently for a generation or 2 before this even has a chance of happening. If we remain a bottom half team in our conference and EIU is top half of theirs, nothing will change. Generations of winning is the only thing that will start to change the tide, it is a steep hill to climb, especially being the northern most school in our conference.
We may graduate a lot of Iowans, but a decent percent of them are already coming in as loyal Hawk fans.

isnt the big 10 now on the oldest tv contract of the conferences?
i'd have to think when they and the sec renegotiate its going to be a monster deal considering how much tv contracts have exploded in the last 3 yrs or so all after they both signed their deals
we might catch up to big ten teams for a bit in terms of tv but id guess theyre going to take off again whenever they get to renegotiate
I believe the premise is that with a 4 team playoff, the Big 10 is not guaranteed to be in the mix (nor is any conference), but if the Big 12 and SEC Collaborrate to increase their competitive level which is already generally regarded as the top two, its a shift of interest and money, money is power. Notre Dame belongs in the big 10, they can all play each other in irrelevant games, the SEC and Big 12 break out - ISU gets to tag along.
