I was the only person of my immediate family (mom, dad, older sister, brother-in-law, younger sister) who did not attend this game as I'm working on my master's at Ohio State. I watched the first half at home excited for the game, but not really expecting what we were soon to witness. In fact, at one point in the second quarter, our cable went out and while I was unhappy, my roommate (a Mizzou alum) said to me "How in the world are you not freaking out right now?"
We left at halftime to head to a friend's party where the game was on in the living room full of strangers. I was THAT GUY who was huddled over the TV for the entire second half and OTs, reacting to every play with excitement and disappointment.
As the fourth quarter rolled on, the people in the room started taking notice to my excitement and started paying attention to the game. When Woody crossed the goal line, the room erupted and I started high-fiving and hugging a room full of brand new Cyclone fans who instantly offered me plenty of cold beverages to kick off my celebration.
As the night went on, I held nothing back in my celebration as we bounced around the bars of Ohio State. As we we driving home, I was embarrassing my roommates by leaning out the car window screaming "CYCLONE! POWER!" down Columbus' equivalent of of Welch Ave which happens to be about 5x as big.
It was an incredible night I will always remember. While I wasn't able to be there, I feel it was my part of Cyclone Nation to be out there making new fans.
