Reminds me of the Saddam statue: (there appear to be numerous cartoons out there in a similar vein.)

Some one should cut the head off of it to really cheese the people protecting it off...

Actually once they remove it I think they should shove it up Sandusky's ***...repeatedly.

IMO this is not needed, but the media wouldn't let it drop until this happened so I don't blame them.

The thing is, statues typically stand to give honor to a figure, and letting it stand in my mind is a bit of a slap in the face to the victims, considering his involvement in all this.

I could maybe see an argument about keeping it as a reminder of the things that were done, and bad choices that were made... but I don't think people would honestly see it that way.

It makes me sad that they haven't decided to remove it yet.. hopefully it gets done very soon.

Since this thing broke, I can't look at that statue, with his hand up, giving the #1 sign, without thinking UFIA.

If you're easily offended, or aren't familar with Fark.com, DO NOT google UFIA. If you do, and are offended, I assume no responsibility.

Heard on TMZ that Lisa Lamponelli said it should be moved to the library to remind people to keep quiet

Looks like nobody is there protesting. Didn't think that would be the case.

There is a reason they chose to do this early on a sunday morning.

yeah, supposedly crews were out, putting up the fence around it, pre-dawn. Smart move.

Dan Wetzel‏ @ DanWetzel If NCAA has determined penalties already it's been done outside typical infraction system. Probably something agreed upon by school, Emmert

This could be very, very big. The fact that it's happening so fast makes me wonder if the 2012 season is going away.
I wonder this as well. If Penn State is going to be without football for a season, or multiple seasons, the current players (innocent players) need ample time to find another school to play at, and with school starting in less than a month, it's going to be a scramble.

Makes sense for them to negotiate something and take their penalties sooner than later. The longer this drags out for PSU, the worse it gets. Anything short of shutting down the fb program for at least a season will be seen as a huge NCAA failure, and there will be a lot of outrage.

If that happens, I wonder if their new fb coach has some escape clause in his contract.
