It would not surprise me if Iowa ends up being the 10th best team we face all year, ahead of only Kansas and Western Illinois. Time to drop Iowa from our schedule
Why would you drop your main rival if you believe they are one the easier games on your schedule?

Yep, we've left them behind. It's no fun beating them anymore.

What are you talking about? Our main rivalry is the Farmageddon game vs. Kansas State. We don't care about the Iowa game nearly as much as all of you Hawks do. It's your Super Bowl and we have nothing to gain from it.

With any luck we will be there by Tuesday.

Even so, recruits sill don't care about beating Iowa or any specific opponents for the most part, look at Barkley Hill.

What...the guy committed to Iowa State who only left because he would have been like in 6 deep position here? If i were him I would have left for anywhere where you would have been able to play right away. Didn't have to be Iowa, if Wisconsin had Iowa's problems at RB and they talked to him he would have likely gone there.

That situation had nothing to do with the team, only playing time.

Yep, they hurt our "Strength of Schedule" rating. We used to be #1 in the nation for SOS and now since the hoks have imploded, we are down around #4 or #5 in the nation. Sucks.

After reading that, I hate Iowa just as much as before. I guess it just doesn't get any higher...

I get really tired of seeing this faulty argument over and over again, usually by hawk fans.

1. ISU and Iowa are BOTH Division 1A (I still don't recognize the FBS/FCS crap) BCS conference schools. I admit that Iowa has more of a winning tradition than us, including playing in and winning BCS bowl games. But both schools are technically on the same "level".

2. ISU and UNI are NOT on the same "level". UNI is a Division 1AA program, so it would be quite different to expect ISU to play at their place, and the "no-win situation" argument has a little more merit.

UNI is no joke, they haven't been for at least 7 years now. If they were FBS I think it would be a great rivalry game.

KSU is bigger because it's a conference game but Iowa and ISU is the biggest rivalry game for each school and I think fans on both sides would agree.

this game is important to ISU, not because it is the Hawks, but because, like it or not, Iowa is becoming one of the easier teams to beat on the Cyclone's schedule. With OK, OSU, TCU, WV, KSU, even Baylor on the schedule there is not a lot of room for error for the Clones.

You originally pointed out how beating Iowa would help you get better recruits. My point was that most recruits don't care whether you beat Iowa or not. I brought up an example of a player who went to Iowa who had an ISU offer even though ISU beat Iowa.

The Iowa game is not the biggest rivalry for us, not even close. I know that I forgot we were playing Iowa this week until I saw something on Facebook from one of my Hawkeye friends today. I would imagine the same is true for most Cyclones - hell, most of us probably still don't know that we play Iowa this weekend. It's just not that big of a deal.

I'm already looking ahead to a true test from Western Illinois.

You won last year. It's becoming easy?

I love it.

Iowa is our biggest rival, as it should be, it keeps us up posting stupid **** on forums like I'm doing now. Without that, college football has the level of interest of water polo. Ignite the hate, it's passion, people care when it's fun and there's competition.

Yes easier than the Fry years when ISU looked like a dying FCS school, I remember going to games then. Empty seats all over the place. ISU doing better is great for both programs, competition breeds inspiration for greatness.
