Iowa State vs Iowa game "not enjoyable" for Iowa Fans

The Iowa game is not the biggest rivalry for us, not even close. I know that I forgot we were playing Iowa this week until I saw something on Facebook from one of my Hawkeye friends today. I would imagine the same is true for most Cyclones - hell, most of us probably still don't know that we play Iowa this weekend. It's just not that big of a deal.

I'm already looking ahead to a true test from Western Illinois.

really........... this is the same thing we say about the Hawk fans that don't take us seriously. OFC it would be a greater victory to beat Texas or OU on their soil but don't ignore the importance of getting to put down all the tavern hawk fans all year ;p:spinny:

I expect there to be 60,000 scalpers since this is so unenjoyable. What do you think I can get a pair for?

Becoming easier. Hilarious.

You won last year. It's becoming easy?

yes, when you look at the past 3 year's scores alone, you appear to have a point. key words here are BECOMING and easiER. when you compare iowa to the teams he mentioned, yes i would take a game against iowa any day. a win in any given year over the next 4-5 years will probably come easiER than a win against:

1. Oklahoma
2. Oklahoma St.
3. WVU
4. KSU
5. Texas
6. TCU
7. and yes I would venture to say even baylor.

don't forget that "fly by night" chizik left us in complete shambles. you have had a coach in place for 13 years. we have had one picking up pieces of chiz for 3 years and now things appear to be coming together.

I would stand by the comment that a win against iowa is becoming easier than a win against nearly any other big 12 opponent. Now that PR has some pieces in place i doubt you will be seeing many more of those 30pt blowouts.

I love it.

We have had some coaching changes.... but there you go with pulling that crap. How did KF do for iowa from the get-go against ISU again?

The iowa game this season is easily one of the easier games on our sched. Even if it is on the road. The Big 12 is a tremendous conference. Will the iowa game continue to be one of the easier games down the road? We'll have to wait and see.

The sqawks will be ready for this game, because it is a rivalry game and that they played poorly in week 1. But I still expect my Cyclones to win.

The tables have totally turned in this rivalry. It took Kurk 5 seasons and a horrid 2003 ISU football team to get a win against ISU. It took CPR 3 seasons. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see ISU win the next 20, that's if Iowa doesn't cancel the series because they cant win anymore. Eventually ISU will be dropping FCS schools from their schedule, and will start playing Iowa in week one for their "warmup game", and will probably be playing 2 of every 3 games in Ames. Little brother need to learn to STFU...

I have been to some of the Iowa State Iowa games starting with the 78 game in Iowa City, and I dislike this game. What good does it do us?
When we win; no benefit to us, as we are always expected to win and should win the game. Losing is a negative however; as again it's normally a game we should have won because we have a better team most of the time.

Secondly; I don't like being around Hawkeye fans. I don't have to elaborate; we all know the many reasons.
We all know what it's like to around negative, obnoxious people. Days are just better off when not around those types.

Wrong! They are the second biggest bunch of arrogant, whiney, over-inflated egotistical losers one earth. KU football fans take 1st place and they just can't help it.

No Hawk fan has ever explained to me the lose lose argument. If they beat us, how does that hurt them from anything? When has beating ISU ever cost them money or a bowl game as compared to beating a patsy.

it must be exhausting for Iowa to play in all these other teams' "Superbowls". I mean, that's what they said about Northern Illinois last week, and I'm sure they'll say about UNI in two weeks.

Living in Eastern Iowa I think this article could be written about almost every game on the Hoks schedule.

For the average fan they expect to win every game since they are an "elite" football program so there is no excitement during a win and they treat every loss like their mother died. The life of the typical tavern hawk must be pretty depressing most falls. It's only kept going by getting to go to some mediocre bowl every year and getting to ride on an airplane. Thousands will likely drink themselves to death if they don't squeak into a bowl this year.

Okay, so this thread needs three things:

1.) We haven't won this game yet, guys. It is in Iowa City. They play well there; we do not. Let's not turn into them and put a W on the board before it even happens. I was there in 2005 and 2007 to do it to them, and I watched KU do it to us in 2005, too.

2.) According to this, since 1950...

I-A Winning Percentage 1950-2011

Iowa is 52nd in overall winning percentage since 1950. We're 97th. Breaking down eras...

I-A Winning Percentage 1950-1980

1950 to 1980, we're actually ahead of them... 100th versus 104th... yeah, not good for the state.

I-A Winning Percentage 1980-2011

1981 to 2011... Iowa 27th, ISU @ 94th... so, yeah, the Fry era definitely left us behind.

3.) That article from the OP, though, is pretty much an Iowa fan's mentality in Poe's Law. It's, at once, an argument for and against Iowa's position in this drama, which makes it pretty funny.
