I sure hope they kick their ***** because I don't want to listen to UNI fans say they'd beat us all year.

They played someone called Central State out of Ohio. They won 59-0 and total yardage was 471-109. They might of well have played Waterloo West.

While I was looking that up, I saw that Western Illinois also played a D-II school in University of Indianapolis. And they only won 27-17 while being outgained 362-321. They also barely beat Butler in the first game. In the two games combined, the Leathernecks have ran the ball 96 times while attempting 42 passes. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a shutout next week. WIU is not good.

I saw that you posted that they beat Butler in another thread as well - isn't Butler I-AA Nonscholarship (like drake)?

Iowa should beat UNI. Will they? Who knows. However, Wisconsin (along with the rest of the Big 10) is/was overrated. I think UNI's one showing against Wisconsin isn't too telling. You can't judge a team off of just 1 game.

I hope they don't lose and make our W look bad.

Why? We either take care of business in the conference or we don't. It won't matter what Iowa does. Them losing is good.

It was only a few short years ago where Iowa was extremely lucky to pull out a win against UNI 17-16 in Kinnick...and Iowa went on to go 11-2 that season. Iowa is awful this year, nowhere near as good as they were that year and I'm guessing UNI is probably just as good as they were that year. I'm taking UNI in this

UNI had all off season to prepare for that one game. They have a week to prepare for this years game. It is a little different.

And your point is...? Iowa also had a whole off-season to prepare for that one game and won by the skin of their teeth.

I find it hard to believe an FBS team prepares all off season for the first game of the season. Especially a Ferentz coached team, where it is well known that he works on fundamentals much longer than needed.

That game? They were playing an Iowa team that had pride and something to play for.

This game? UNI could drive over to Mt. Joy on Friday & spend all night at the Southern Comfort Lounge* "making it rain" and drinking shots all night, and they could still be in the game on Saturday.

My only regret is that since ISU will be playing a night game, the EPIC meltdown on Soundoff will happen while I'm watching the Clones.

Does WHO archive that show? Because I really want to listen if Iowa goes down next weekend.

You really think UNI spent all off season preparing for the Iowa game in 2009?

The arrogance of Hawk fans is unbelievable. Not every team circles the Iowa game on their calendar. It is not everyone's Super Bowl.

It is not ANYONE's Super Bowl.

If Iowa's offense is going to be as inept against UNI as they were against NIU and ISU, then yeah UNI has a better than average chance at springing the upset.

I never said Iowa would run away with the game. In fact, I never even said Iowa WILL win the game. I said "Iowa should beat UNI. Will they, who knows?" I'm not confident in a win at this point, and who would be? Iowa has played 8 of the worst quarters of football I've seen in awhile out of them. To say UNI will get beat easily by Iowa would be idiotic. So UNI played Iowa close a few years ago. I seem to remember them playing ISU close last season too, and we all remember what happened at the end of last year for ISU.

What is your point? Iowa has one week to prepare for UNI as well. It's ok, you have every reason to be nervous

Regardless of what Ferentz works on and for how long in the off-season I still think it's a nonsensical excuse and would be if ISU used it as well. If what you write is true that perhaps Ferentz needs to change up how he prepares his team in the off-season, since Iowa won that game only by blocking 2 straight field goal attempts.

It is not ANYONE's Super Bowl.

Please direct me to the place where I said it was anyone's Super Bowl. Please, because I want to see it. I said UNI had all offseason to prepare for that game, and one week this year. I never said UNI did that. I also never said it was UNI's, ISU's, Nebraska's, Michigan's, or anyone else's Super Bowl.

The arrogance of Hawk fans? Explain. How am I being arrogant? I have said numerous times that Iowa is not good this year and that ISU should have won by more than 20. You can continue to hate everything about Iowa fans, and throw me in the mix with the bad ones, but that doesn't make me arrogant whatsoever.

I agree with the notion of UNI being more likely to pull upsets week 1 compared to other weeks during the season. By week 3 your roster starts wearing down with injuries, fatigue, etc and with the less scholarships they have it plays a factor. If UNI was playing Iowa week 1 I would pick the Panthers to win but not the 3rd game of the year.

Iowa by double digits.

Do you think the iowa players were geeked about playing UNI?

Maybe not, but if that's true than it's their own damn fault.

Frankly, I get tired of that kind of excuse used by any team, even ISU, when they either escape with a much closer victory than anticipated or outright lose in an upset. That kind of BS takes away from the opponents effort and talent and is total weak sauce. Your team and coaching staff should be geeked up and ready for every damn game, regardless of the opponent.
