I really hope coach PR will make some changes.

Agree. We did very little to adjust to Texas bringing extra guys. In fact, we often did exactly the opposite of what it seemed we needed to do. No reason not the blitz the hell out of us every play.
This as well, the OL isn't always put in a position to be successful with our sets.

OK. They were willing to bring the house for sure. Apparently, we don't scheme for that. Seems like a running back screen could go crazy with that blitz.
That would make to much sense. Screens defeat the blitz so to do wide receiver screens and when we did those we were successful but we continue to have play calling that is too predictable and does not adjust to what the defense is giving us.

The only issue I have with firing him is then we bring i someone new and the players have to learn a whole new system. I'm terrible when it comes to firing coaches but there is something to be said for having consistency. I just don't want to get into a situation where whenever our offense doesn't work we fire the coordinator
When was the last time we fired the coordinator?
Dumb post.

It's on the qb to change the play if the D is bringing the house I'd assume, hard to always call a screen at the right time from the sidelines.

If they're bringing 8-9, I say toss it to the wr who is not being covered. ;)

Too often they blow assignments when pressure comes, and a guy will come through untouched with a lineman available to have blocked him.
I watch the offensive line every week cause I used to play the position and assignments are being handled regularly by the 5 lineman it's the extra blitzes that continues to be unaccounted for and that goes back to coaching.

Touche. We should go deep, or just have Steele chuck it as far as he can throw it.

I'm shocked how difficult we make adjustments seem.

Straight ahead rushing tells you how well your line is blocking. We were getting on hat on a hat today and had some great runs up the middle. But we abandoned that scheme for no reason.

I agree, but is Steele given that option to change the play? Not sure anyone knows the answer to that.
No idea, how many options Steele has at the line to audible versus JB would be interesting to know.

Actually Mess tried the deep pass and Steele "should be benched" Jantz over threw the receiver by a mile.

Texas blitzed practically every play because they are absolutely not afraid of our receivers. Same reason OU played mostly press coverage last week. Jantz is not a very consistent qb but the windows he is throwing into are relatively tiny especially if you are turnover adverse. You can't coach speed and size, most teams we go against have receivers with both. We have quick short guys. I have high hopes for Brundrage though.

I kept waiting for Steele to do something, ANYTHING, to change the play and adjust at the line but it didn't happen. Even when it was obvious guys were going to be coming off the edge and he'd have no time to throw he wouldn't even look at them before the play, let alone change anything. I think maybe once he touched the top of his helmet when we threw a jump ball to the shortest guy in the conference but that was it.
I know quarterback play is a gigantic issue but our offensive line is worse. At the very least we need to take a hard look at our OC, offensive line coach, QB coach after the season. Things aren't getting better.

People want to continue to blame the oline. Those that do know little about blocking schemes. The offensive line continues to block great but teams continue to blitz. It's up to the backs to pick up the blitz but our offensive coordinator does not adjust the schemes to account for the blitzes. We either go with no back or a back that runs out of the backfield. If I were KU an WV I would blitz all day.

I don't think Mess has any blocking schemes that dictate the OL gets beat virtually every single play, and if he does, he deserves to be fired on that principle alone.

Chizzledick put a bunch of players in the NFL in his short time at Auburn, as well as bought a national championship, and he's not going to survive this year.

Coaching is a "What have you done for me lately" profession. What you did in previous years doesn't give you much grace. So he put two guys in the NFL from last year's team. Great. Doesn't change the fact his OL flat out sucks this year.
