The sea of red(well, maybe large lake)in Lawrence was awesome. The players seemed more jazzed than usual--probably a combination of success(especially from some unlikely sources like SBR and Gage) and the crowd. a couple of questions, though...why no pep band? and did we really need to be doing chants during the KU alma mater(I was in a KU section, but was a little embarrassed by this).

We sat in front of a guy from the band and he said isu is the only d1 school that doesnt financially support the band. He said they have to fundraise so only can afford to go to one game.

Ha I'm sure this is the case...Jamie is so mean :jimlad: #bandproblems

Did you get any shots of the crowd? I wasn't able to watch on TV, but could definitely hear the Cyclone fans on the radio broadcast.

I edited my post.

It might not be the best quality picture, but I can guarantee that corner was solid cardinal. And pretty much the first several rows were as well stretching all the way down the sideline to the student section.

This is correct. The ISUCF"V"MB gets no money from athletics. Anything they do is paid for by donations including bowl trips. This is why the band usually only travels to away games on years that they don't travel to Iowa.

I was at the game and the ISU crowd was huge. Big props to that ISU section of about 20 people across from the main ticket area that we were in. They were definitely doing their part.

I've been to ISU away games now at Colorado, Mizzou, A&M, Texas, TCU, and now KU; and this games was really impressive. Proud of everyone there!

Yep, it was an awesome trip! (Even if SOMEONE threw up right behind me on the bus ride home!)

The sarcasm wasn't about the band getting no money, it's about the fact that ISU is the only AD in the country that doesn't give money to their band

I just wanted to clarify, because a good number of people dont know (and probably don't care) about it. It's a pretty crazy fact though.

They have a freaking track inside their stadium for crying out loud. Come on, this is not high school!

I was sitting on the opposite side of the stadium from the visitors section in section 9. Could hear the chants quite clearly.

I was in Section 8. moved over to ISU section with a few minutes left in the 4th.

Also want to add that EVERY KU fan I ran into was pretty nice. We parked and got out of the car with a beer and started walking around asking for tickets... stepped into the Alley and some KU fans were yelling at us.. get back on private property.. and we went over and talked to them... There were some cops a little ways down the alley writing tickets... for people drinking in the Alley's.... Cops need to lighten up a little... Your Team is 1-10.. people need to drink!

Probably the greatest CPR moment I have ever experienced. Ran over to our section after giving an interview clapping his hands. Next thing we know he puts his hat on backwards, blows us kisses and raises 6 fingers in the air. Does anybody have any video of that? Got me really excited for a bowl game and the game on Friday.

MC - Are you the unsmiling bearded dude with the "ISU is the University of Iowa" Tshirt? If so, you've been on TV at least twice this year. I like the way you represent.

Great ISU crowd at the game, but we do have some real jackwad fans to go along with the greater majority of "class" fans. We sat in section 22 row 5, and the first row of the section had a group of ISU fans that I would swear have never been more than 50 miles from their double wide. If you are in the front row, you do not need to stand on your seat the whole game. It may also be a good idea to mix in a verb other than the F bomb every 5th word. Show some respect and class when you are a guest. For their part, KU fans were gracious and polite.

I was in Section 21 row 8. There looked like there was a fight in that area when Burris went out and the KU fans were trying to talk to him or whatever. Couldn't really understand what they were fighting about tho, any details?

You apparently don't remember seeing the "waving of the wheat" and hearing "Rock Chalk Jayhawk" in Hilton then do you?

The alma mater is for KU graduates and has nothing to do with the visiting team. No reason for us to sit on our hands at that point.

The dude with the blue and white coat sitting in front of you has one seriously effed up head.

:jimlad:
Also, the lady down, to the right has a MASSIVE hood on her jacket.

Next time you take a panoramic shot, make sure and tell everyone sit still until you are done!
