This is correct. The ISUCF"V"MB gets no money from athletics. Anything they do is paid for by donations including bowl trips. This is why the band usually only travels to away games on years that they don't travel to Iowa.

Well Heck, the marching band is only the greatest Ambassador for Iowa State there is, why would the Athletes care or administration for that matter? I understand not being able to afford 300 plus kids going to ALL the away games, but Kansas is just a short leap. Come on Jamie, you have one of the top 5-6 bands in the Big 12, can't you help? A pep band would of been nice also.

I was in Section 8. moved over to ISU section with a few minutes left in the 4th.

Also want to add that EVERY KU fan I ran into was pretty nice. We parked and got out of the car with a beer and started walking around asking for tickets... stepped into the Alley and some KU fans were yelling at us.. get back on private property.. and we went over and talked to them... There were some cops a little ways down the alley writing tickets... for people drinking in the Alley's.... Cops need to lighten up a little... Your Team is 1-10.. people need to drink!

That was cool of KU fans to save you from getting a ticket.

There were hundreds of us drinking while walking from lot 90 to the stadium. Im guessing this is legal there based on the sheer number of people doing it? Odd the cops would care about an alley.

The Rhoads moment was super cool, but they moment with Sam Richardson was just as cool IMO. He was lagging behind because of his TV interview and the crowd went absolutely nuts for him as he walked by.

Umm....that would be a man named Paul Rhoads. Fella named Hoiberg isn't far behind.

They have a freaking track inside their stadium for crying out loud. Come on, this is not high school!

Play like high schoolers then you get a high school stadium. they are now 0-20 in their last 20 B12 games after all.
Wonder what kind of contract Charlie has? Hope it's like Cap't Kirk's so they can't get rid of him.

Weis has performed as well as could be expected under the circumstances. They made some major strides throughout the season, and he had some examples of very good coaching. Took more than a couple of good teams into the fourth quarter.

When the band comes out and the pa says the pride of Iowa state, the iowa state varsity marching band, I throw up in my mouth. Sorry if you are/were in the band.

Also, band take notice when the cyclone power chant is starting so you don't start playing some old hall and oats song.

This is why bands can't have nice things.

Obviously it was a new experience for Sam, he either was not aware the crowd was cheering for him, or he's very shy - he didnt acknowledge the fans at all.

FYI, the band director has said that he won't just send a pep band. It's either everyone or no one. Something about not setting a precedent and them never getting to take the entire band on a trip.

As OP of this thread can we make this a "band free zone"?
No.

I realize that a bunch of people dislike the band right now, but the fact is you don't have to be a jerk to members in the band. We a fans of the team, and we contribute to the atmosphere of the game. If you don't like a band in football, go watch NFL.

The thread was on CPR though, which got directed to the atmosphere from traveling fans, which got directed to not having a pep band. The thread did get derailed a bit.

For those at the game, another funny moment was when Arceo had to use the porta potty. Was in there for quite awhile and when he came out got a standing ovation from ISU section. While running back to sideline (zipping up in the process) he let out a big grin. Maybe he was "relieved" or got a kick out of the ovation. Ha! Not sure I've seen a player use a public bathroom during a game before. Hilarious.

We took my friends tailgate bus and it was awesome we had 12 people on it and had a freaking blast. Was very proud of our fans for the awesome showing for this away game. To me it seemed close to 50 50 in fan bases.
