It's amazing what the PR machines of the NFL, Ravens, and ESPN have done to this guys image. There are people who were convicted of less than him or nothing at all that are considered cancers to their sport in the public eye.

I for one will be very happy to not have to see that stupid dance of his ever again.

One thing that was brought up in an article I read was that Ray Lewis is a lock for Canton in 5 years. The two men that were murdered are buried only 20 miles away from Canton. Will their families and friends stage a protest at his induction.

I don't want him to go out on top either. It will be really crappy if he makes it to, or wins, the Super Bowl this year.

I will not watch TV for 6 months if the Ravens win the super bowl due to the giant circle jerk for Ray Lewis it will turn in to. The win will get accredited to his leadership etc. regardless of how replaceable he is as a player at this stage in his career and how good the rest of the team has become. The Ravens OL is VERY GOOD and can control the tempo of games but it will all get accredited to Ray and the D if they win.

I'm not a Patriots hater as I think what that organization has done since 2000 is amazing so I am hoping for the Pats to hang about 50 on the Ravens D.

It's also because Ray will be in the media immediately after he retires ala Cris Carter, Keyshawn, Marino, etc.
Ray has a big personality, and he will be on TV (unfortunately).

I don't know how anyone could not want him to go out without winning the Superbowl in his final year. . . .

You don't expect Patriots, or Falcons, or 49ers fans to feel this way, do you? I belong to one of those three groups, and I'd prefer my team to win the ultimate pro game.

I know and agree its unfortunate. His contract with ESPN just means that all my NFL game day shows will now be Fox or NFL network (although NFL network was part of the Ray Lewis sunshine PR machine).

Honestly I did not know about him and murders.

Serious question. How did you not know about him and the murders. Unless you are 13 years old and weren't born yet outside of ESPN, NFL, and the Baltimore media this has followed Ray around everywhere. I have not watched a Ravens game with friends since the murders where it hasn't been brought up by someone.

Ray's blood-soaked white suite from that evening was never found. Witnesses saw his limo stop and throw his clothes in a dumpster, a fact that Lewis has admitted.

At the absolute least, he was there when it happened and was close enough to be covered with blood. Whether he did it or not, I will never be convinced he doesn't know who did it and how it went down. The fact that no one was brought to justice for these crimes is on him. Ray knows. He knows.

Your circle of friends may bring it up, but the media doesn't seem to bring it up at all anymore. It's all about his redemption and newfound bible beating. They don't seem to mention what actually happened though.

tyler might be 18 and doesn't remember it from when he was 5 either.

He killed two people and pinned it on his posse for a plea deal. I feel so sorry for the families of the dead when the talking heads are slobbering over what a saint he is.

Having a "posse" automatically precludes you from being a saint.

I'm another guy in the group that hadn't heard about the murders until recently. I would have been 13 when they occurred, but didn't follow the news much back then. I grew up in rural Illinois, halfway between Chicago and St. Louis and thus outside of the "stronghold" of any NFL market, so I guess I'm not surprised that I missed the story. Fast-forward to now, with the media machine's effort to sell their redemption/2nd-chance story (especially when the references are phrased as being to some event in his past rather than actually re-telling the story), and the murders are new to me.

If I hadn't done some searching to find out what past the media is fawning over Lewis for overcoming I would have assumed it was a drug bust, PEDs, or something like that. Nothing on the level of multiple homicide. It's only in the past few days that I've seen headlines specifically mention the murders as such (rather than being a vague reference to "his past" or something like that).

I am blown away by this. I guess the PR blitz has worked.

And to address cyhiphop you are probably right my group of friends is in the low to mid 30's. We were all in college when it happened.

I guess this truly has been swept under the rug by the nation. Those of us who followed it when it happened despise the guy and everyone else just flat out didn't know.

Yeah, I'm a 33 year old Steelers fan so I remember every second of it. Also, it was highly covered on ESPN at the time and I was in college and pretty much watched ESPN 24/7.

I have to decide between Ray Lewis and Tom Brady next weekend.

Who do I root for?

I think I will just root for the NFC.

What's wrong with Tom Brady again?

Oh that's right. Successful

No, not because he's successful, but because he is a d-bag media *****. Did you see his "outfit" for his post game interview? Dude was wearing a turtle neck and a womans wool coat.

I am a fan of many successful QBs, just not Tom Brady.

I don't know how anyone could not want him to go out without winning the Superbowl in his final year. There have been so many great stories this year with the Colts and Adrian Peterson, but I just hope the Ravens pull it out this year for one of the best players of all time at his position.

Because he is a POS that's why. The fact that we have to watch this a-hole do that stupid dance again about makes me sick.
