It sounds like Malou is this year's Norvel Pelle.

In all likelihood, a foreign player at a brand new prep school in Urbandale, has some serious academic hurdles to overcome.

I agree. He's a very intriguing player, but qualifying could be a huge hurdle.

he's been going to school in the US for a number of years, used to be at St Thomas Moore's in the NE. I think ABCD prep academy is just about getting a high enough ACT score.

Miroslav Jaksic may be our top big man target. He's 6-11 in 2014 at high school in Michigan now, but from Canada before and actually born in Serbia. Cornell Mann is recruiting him. We offered around Christmas time. Wish we could get him here for a visit in Hilton, but its been hard for him to take visits during his season.

Not surprised Fred likes Jaksic. It appears he can pass and shoot. I think we'll see this as a hallmark of Hoiberg post players.

I really like Jaksics game too. I like all the big men targets we are after right now. Jaksic, Malou, and O'mara would all be good to get IMO.

Malou is 2013. Obviously there are questions regarding eligibility anytime you are dealing with a foreign player and multiple high schools.

Sean O'Mara was in attendance for yesterday's game, just as a confirmation for anyone who was wondering.

Tweets from the head coach for ABCD Prep.

"Malou is the top player in Iowa. 6-9 SF who can handle, shoot, block shots and look down at the rim when above the rim."

"Academics will be very close at the end."

Malou has offers from Iowa State, Kansas State, West Virginia, Memphis, UW and UNLV.

No interviews on O'Mara's visit? Hope he enjoyed it here. I really like the kids game! Think he would be a good fit within Coach Hoiberg's system. But, like I said before-Sean has said some very favorable things regarding Xavier's program! Going against them at this point I'm afraid.

I think we take a shot with malou. He is 2013. Would he a good add. If he can't make it then no big deal.

I agree, academics are important but sometimes you need to take a shot at guys like Malou, especially when they are in your backyard. I like jaksic but it would be nice to lock down a 2013 big man with more then 2 years left. Getting both would be great. O'Mara would be great instead as well.

Jaksic is going to end up a big-time post recruit- if he is not considered that already. He is about the perfect 5 for what we like to do.

Agreed, expect a Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio state and Michigan State offer before all is said and done. Hopefully we develop the best relationship and secure the young man for the good guys. Vaughn would be huge in helping with that. The more high profile players that sign on the better.

Ok so is Malou 2013 or 2014?

I'm guessing a week after the season...whenever that is, it will be announced whos scholarship Malou might be replacing. Then Bluford and maybe Malou will sign in the regular signing period from April 17th-May 15th.

I wrote this in another thread:

Since we are recruiting Malou I'm assuming that one of our current signed class of 2013 Juco posts are either not making it to campus, or one of our current players on this years team is transferring.

Last year we had 4-5 PF/C: Royce, Ejim, Booker, Percy, Railey
This year we have 4-5 PF/C: Ejim, Niang, Percy, Booker, Clyburn(3/4)
Next year we would have 6-7 PF/C: Ejim, Niang, Percy, Amardi, Edozie, Hogue(3/4), Malou.

It doesn't add up to go from 4-5 to 6-7. That's why I'm assuming one of our current signed 2013 Juco posts players isn't making it to campus, or one or our current players on this years team is transferring.

This is all assuming Malou signs with us (which I hope he does) But until then, let's keep the conspirisist theorist to a minimal.

We are recruiting another post player for the class of 2013. We have 13 of 13 scholarships filled for next season. There was speculation on why the staff was recruiting KJ Bluford before when we had 13 scholarships filled already too. Obviously the reason why was because Jones wasn't gonna be on the team next season. So it's only fair to assume that the staff is recruiting another post player for next season because one of the signed 2013 Juco posts or current players on this years team aren't going to be on the team next year; otherwise the staff probably wouldn't be recruiting another post for the 2013 class.

They were recruiting Bluford as a back up plan. He didn't sign until we knew Jones was ineligible. Malou is probably another back up plan. i.e. if one of the Juco's is unable to make grades. He hasn't committed yet. When Bluford committed, we had an open scholorship for him at that point. See my point? No use speculating until he actually signs, or somebody decommits.
