Here is my thought process on incoming freshmen. I don't expect ANYTHING out of them until they prove it to me at the D1 level. It causes me a lot less stress in the long run. I had read everything on Niang, about how he was crafty, excellent footwork etc. I was excited to get him but I didnt expect him be as successful as he has been, so what he has given us has been a bonus IMO. This thought process was probably brought on by the McDoormat era with all the crap he brought in. It has worked well.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best threads in CF history. Good work, folks.

Who said its his fault? Just use your head, Bubu sat out half the season, and with less then a month of practice, was still deemed a better option to play. What makes you think that concept will change? I am not saying Naz can't earn that spot, just saying anyone with common sense would assume Bubu will play before him at point until proven otherwise

It's possible to be better after a year.

I think you missed what I said. People expect SDW to be ready to play next year, but not Naz? Naz was further ahead, so why can't he also be ready? Moron.

On the Fred Hoiberg show a few weeks back Fred said SDW would have been in the rotation so how do we know if Naz was further ahead?

I understand the thought process but you might as well just accept that Matt Thomas is going to see serious minutes. That kid was put on the earth to play for Fred Hoiberg, the two are tailor made for each other.

Hope we can wean ourselves off Juco's in the years ahead. I understand why Fred has done it and it's worked fine, but having to reload every year and waiting until mid season for them to jell has been difficult to watch.

You are mistaken, Naz didn't redshirt because Bubu was suspended and a backup point was needed. We had plenty of shooting guards so we could afford SDW time to prepare his body for B12 play. I don't expect anything from him, but something tells me he will e key to our success next season. Sorry about insulting you, no offense.

I understand our concerns, but it seems we are struggling to pull high school bigs so we will probably have to go the Juco route a lot for posts.

There's a difference between PG and SG. See our struggles last year until we decided to go with a lot of point forward.

No way Naz plays ahead of Bubu. I haven't seen anything from Naz to say he is better than Bubu. Bubu is a pretty good point guard right now. You can't pull out the "he'll get better next year" argument because you're saying that Bubu will stay the same.

No. He won't.

Agree here. Bubu has reached his ceiling. And that's ok. He's become a solid addition, and he's worked his butt off to get the playing time he deserves. But let's face it, he is what he is and lets hope Morris is ready to go from day 1 next year... If he's not, we'll struggle offensively until he is.

He just isn't a high potential guy. You don't see the improvment from years four to five that you see from one to two.

I think you are wrong. Bubu has only been able to practice half the year and he still plays before the freshmen. But yeah, the bench Warner's will beat him out next season lol. Bubu is also on the floor because his defense is better then most on the team. Naz has a ton to work on I that department as well.

Here nor there
He just isn't a high potential guy. You don't see the improvment from years four to five that you see from one to two.
First, you are placing too much weight on overall ceiling (high potential) and not enough on improvement made in the next 10-12 months.

Second, all things equal you may see more improvement in years one to two than three to four, but things are not equal (and the other guards are going from 0 to 1). It is likely Bubu will improve more in the next 10-12 months with the additional PT than he has the previous 24 months when he missed an entire season's worth of basketball (injury and suspension). You make improvement by playing basketball, which Bubu will be doing to a much greater degree in the next year than he has in the past two.
