We don't need potential from Bubu. We need experience and leadership.

If you think that Morris is going to walk in and understand what Fred wants to do offensively, and how to play team defense (more than Bubu), on day 1 - you're smoking crack.

By the end of the season? Maybe. And Yes, I understand Morris is a highly-rated player, with a far-greater potential than Palo. But PG is probably the toughest position (mentally) to play.

I know that by defending Bubu, people will somehow take it that I'm "down" on Morris (and Thomas) - which is pathetic.. I think they can both play day 1 (moreso Thomas - because of the SG position is easier), but I have no doubts that our backcourt defense could be very bad when those two are on the court. Not because they suck, but because they won't know what's expected with help D, switching on screens, how to follow around/ rip through screens. Experience matters in these situations - even to smart, talented freshman.

Agree here. Bubu has reached his ceiling. And that's ok. He's become a solid addition, and he's worked his butt off to get the playing time he deserves. But let's face it, he is what he is and lets hope Morris is ready to go from day 1 next year... If he's not, we'll struggle offensively until he is.

I understand that Bubu has reached his physical and probably mental ceiling, but that doesn't mean he can't improve his shot. I'm sure that he won't get any quicker, or play smarter (he already plays pretty smart) but his shot is one thing that can always improve, and I'm sure it will

A top 10 recruit with one offer from a power conference school is just plain ridiculous.

I don't see where someone would get the idea that Bubu would not improve given a stretch without injury or the suspension. The man lost a year of full practice and participation, and he's still solid. Give him the offseason and practice to improve, and it's logical to say that he will improve.

I agree. He's been a little better each year, and I'm not sur why people think that wouldn't continue.

Some people might call that "good shot selection".

You need more than good shot selection to be a starting point guard in the Big 12.

Put me on the court and I would only shoot when somebody got me wide open, but that is not enough to justify me being a starting Big 12 PG.

Can't score a lot of points if you are waiting to be wide open to shoot.

Ok, let just say there is some kind of minutes-split with Morris and Bubu at the PG next year (obviously). While Bubu may not be a sharp shooter (he isn't a non-threat though), he doesn't have to be to run the offense. Palo hustles the ball down the court faster than Lucious, and as I've mentioned before, he got to the FT line more in 1/8 the minutes last year (56) than Lucious has all of this year. If he goes to the hole on a secondary break, you will have open shots for Thomas, SDW, Niang, and Ejim on the wing or top of key. Fred will find a way for it to work. He will not be resigned to "we'll Bubu's in, our offense will suck."

For the record, (and all this obsession w/ Bubu's 3 pt shooting), who says Morris will be a long-range threat? There's no guarantee as a frosh...

Maybe not, but you can still be a good point guard- and certainly better than one taking bad shots in attempt to score a lot of points. Few coaches view "the fact that he only takes low pressure, wide open threes with nobody closing" as not being a desirable trait. It is not as though we are playing 4 on 5 on offense when Bubu is in- teams still keep a man on him and he helps lead to open shots as much as anyone. What slows the offense when Bubu is in is the fact a lot of his minutes are when Booker and/or Gibson are on the court.

Imo we will keep a 5 guard rotation next year, probably more so in effort to further distribute the responsibility of handling the ball. Given the four senior guards in front of Bubu this year will be replaced by freshman and a JuCo, I find it very probable Bubu's role is increased next year- even in the unlikely event he does not improve.

That's basically what I said. You said he gets a little better each year, and I said he will be better next year, but he won't be much better. Someone like Naz could easily see a bigger improvment from this year to next year.
