Probably an unfair and unanswerable question and I feel weird mentioning it. But I wonder if Fred thinks his twins could play for the Clones and he might want to coach them? I know that seems like a long time from now, but it is only 8 years and one would think it would have to be a dream for everyone involved. Not sure if they even play bball, but one would think they would, and would probably be pretty good knowing who their father is.

I am pretty sure Fred is doing well financially, but we need to bump his pay though.

Well I am sure Greg Mcdermott feels this way coaching his son.

Fred said in the beginning he had the phone number for every GM in the NBA in his cell phone. I was originally worried that his time away from the NBA would hurt that line, but at this point you know they will be calling him every off season, giving him a chance to hype up the seniors (or underclassman) for the drafts, and him politely telling them no thanks, I am not leaving.

This happened last year, will happen this year, and will continue to happen. He has already seen the NBA, lived that lifestyle, and decided that his family belongs in Ames, IA. 10 years from now if his kids aren't playing for ISU he may be moving on, but I will be shocked if he ends his career for reasons other than health before then. Fred Hoiberg IS Iowa State.

To Fred, this isn't just a stepping stone job to get to something better. He has just as much invested in this school/program as the people that have been season-ticket holders for 30 years. He wants to see it succeed as much or more than any of us, and for that reason I don't think he leaves for a while. He's just getting started.

we all realize that Fred has an older son too, right? There are 3 Hoiberg boys.

Fred isn't leaving for a college program. He will be an NBA coach but not until his kids are graduated from High School.

OK ZW, I wish another pair of twin boys on CFH. That way we can lock him in for another 21 years when they both graduate as all conf stars at ISU.

I've seen in a couple of interviews/talks that Fred has made comments like "The brightest coaching minds are in the NBA". I am inclined to think that at some point he would at least consider the NBA. He certainly wouldn't go to another college. But he's an ambitious kind of guy. He's the kind of guy who wants new challenges. I could see him spending another 5 years at ISU. Then 5 years in the NBA for a mid west NBA team. Then retire from coaching, and settle for an athletic director type of job.

Jeff Goodman has been saying UCLA is a better job for him for 2 days now. He thinks he should take the job. Problem that many of these "experts" dont understand is for CFH 2 very important things in his life are his family and ISU Basketball, both of those are in Ames Iowa.

He also has a job for life at ISU. In the NBA if you dont win now you are looking for a new job. CFH knows this.

If he stops winning at ISU, he certainly doesn't have a job for life. I don't expect him to stop winning at ISU. And I don't expect him to not win should he go to the NBA. And I certainly don't expect him to go t the NBA any time soon.

So he can send his kids to a private school in LA and live the fast paced life-style away from there grandparents? I really think he's family first, job second type of guy. He doesn't strike me as anything but an upper midwest kind of guy. People only look at it from a job aspect, but there is so much more to life than that, especially when you have a family.

At ISU he can have a down year or two and keep his job. In the NBA you dont get a down year and keep your job.
