how can you say we are a bad match up for them? They had a young team and we had a bunch of seniors. Despite that, they handled us pretty well in Iowa City. We are going to play them early with brand new guards, it is going to be very tough. If we played them later in the year, I like our chances better but going up against an experienced team in early December I don't like our chances. Also keep in mind that Iowa gets extra game and practices with an already experienced team as they are going to Europe.
There's a reason why it's called the way too early. All people are talking about is how good the B1G is. If all the people go pro like they say it won't be nearly as hyped next year. That would be the only possible way Iowa would get votes if off their possible top half of the B1G preseason expectations. NIT winners (and the Hoks didn't even win)
2012 winner Stanford received all of 2 votes for the next season.
2011 winner Wichita State received zero votes for the next season.
2010 winner Dayton received zero votes for the next season.
2009 winner Penn State received zero votes for the next season.
2008 winner Ohio State received 64 votes (#32) for the next season.
2007 winner West Virginia received 20 votes (#36) for the next season.
2006 winner South Carolina received zero votes for the next season.
2005 winner South Carolina received zero votes for the next season.
2004 winner Michigan received 74 votes (#27) for the next season.
2003 winner St. John's received zero votes for the next season.
2002 winner Memphis received all of 2 votes for the next season.
Iowa's going to get votes for the preseason top 25 poll, there's a pretty decent chance they will even be ranked. Calm down, take some deep breaths, and accept it.
OMG we're turning into Halkeye fans! This sounds like Halkeye football every year we beat them!

I hate this crap. How can these bozos knock a team like Kansas for losing a bunch of seniors, while continually ranking Kentucky as the top team when they're replacing a bunch of people, too?
Preseason rankings are just dumb to begin with, but especially when you're basing the ranking on the quality of recruits that haven't played a second of college ball yet. I think they should wait until late December to issue their first ranking, and base it on how the teams have actually played.
