Re: Rashad Vaughn

10 seed...a whopping one higher than the seed that actually did make the Final Four out of that bracket.

And yeah, I really do think there are about 30ish teams every year that have the ability to play their way into the Final Four. That has as much (or even more) to do with the increased parity in recent years, matchups, "streakiness", luck, the way the tournament is structured, etc. as it does with those teams' talent and abilities. 4 games in a row is what it takes...plenty of teams are capable of doing that.

Being Final Four caliber and having the ability to gain some luck/momentum to have an outside shot at a Final Four are two completely different things.

I see what you are saying, but we had a look at it as much as anyone in that region should we have gotten by tOSU. Thats not taking anything away from WSU at all either, or Arizona for that matter. ISU/WSU matchup or Arizona/ISU wouldn't have been as daunting as ISU/UK matchup from the year before.

I think you are thinking of it all wrong. Final Four does not mean top Four teams in the country. Last year there was plenty of teams that had the ability to go to the Final Four but weren't a top four team.

What would? That team was special as far as talent goes.

If we had Rashad Vaughn this year we would have won the national title without question.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

The way Fred was utilizing mismatches this year it was very tough for opponents to prepare in a short time. It is not crazy at all to say ISU could have made the Final Four if they got past Ohio State considering it was set up easy to do so in that region.

Essentially, this is what Coach Hoiberg has said on a few occasions.

No, they're not. Do you have a problem with being literal? If someone believes that a team is one of the top four teams in the country, they'll ******* say "they're one of the top four teams in the country".

Since your big hangup seems to be semantics, why don't tell us how we're all wrong by outlining the differences between "Final Four caliber" and "shot at a Final Four"?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Back to Vaughn, I think it's easy to say he'd be a program changer if he's as good as hyped. He'll be a McDonald's AA and it's hard to argue the last one that came to Ames didn't change our program

I know we're giving Split some tough love here, but a lot of scribes are predicting dirt and urine to be in the dance next season.

Was that Fizer, or was Stinson one also?

This is why one of my hopes/expectations for the program over the next few years is to move from 7-10 seed in the tourney to a 3-6 seed. Making the second weekend of the NCAAs is much easier when you dont' face a 1 or 2 in the 2nd round.

Fizer. Stinson wasn't close. Marginal top 150 recruit. Brackins was close since he was around a top 20 recruit.

Unfortunately I think they might be wrong...avg talent with a coach that can't develop players. I think their season hinges on how productive Uthoff is. If he can be good they have a shot, if not they are the same team they were last year that couldn't beat a ranked team
