Re: Rashad Vaughn

I understand that, but the point is did we and others go to watch him work out monday? that would be a violation

I'm sure we wouldn't have been allowed as soon as the school knew about this ruling. I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Reminder: Robert Johnson is making his decision this Friday and will likely be choosing UNC (Robert Johnson's Crystal Ball Predictions) over Indiana and Virginia. I found an article on a UNC website that says UNC only has one scholarship remaining and Johnson will likely fill it.

UNC Basketball Recruiting: Robert Johnson is UNC's to Lose

"The Tar Heels only have one scholarship left and the pressure was put on when Rashad Vaughn announced he had scheduled a visit to Chapel Hill later this year. Fans would love to see Vaughn in Carolina blue, but he just hasn’t seemed to show as much interest in the UNC program. Johnson however would love to play in the ACC and has continually shown that he loves UNC and the coaches. With Coach Williams making more offers recently, Johnson has to feel the pressure and knows that he could lose out on the chance of a lifetime.Keeping It Heel will continue to update you Robert Johnson’s recruitment as we learn more including his announcement next week on September 20th!"

Nice find... If feels strange to root for ol'Roy to get a 4 star recruit but it is for the greater good.

While I think this ultimately will help our chances with RV (which I'm all for), part of me would still like to beat old Roy boy straight up for a recruit sometime here. If Johnson commits to UNC soon, sure it is pretty much like RV passed on them for someone else like us only for UNC to move forward with Johnson, but not completely. It really seems to be just more of a who takes the scholarship first.

ESPN Insider article from September 12th:

Kentucky Wildcats should be just fine - ESPN

In summary for those of you without ESPN Insider, the article is about Kentucky's 2014 recruiting class. Guess who ISN'T mentioned in this article... Rashad Vaughn.

"They're still targeting virtually all of the top prospects in the nation - guys like..." and about 20 recruits are named, RV not being one of them. Take that however you would like.

We did (if we get him). Vaughn could choose UNC RIGHT NOW if he wanted. This is how recruiting goes all of the time.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

The rub of the article for ISU fans is in the last two paragraphs. And it seems like really good news for those fans who see KU as a threat for Vaughn (which I never have, actually).

I'm one of those guys and yes, this does comfort me a bit, but I think it will probably be nearly impossible for me to feel completely comfortable until Vaughn actually makes a decision. Self has an uncanny ability to come out of nowhere at the last minute to turn up the heat on a recruit, and have them commit to Kansas nearly instantaneously.

One of those names on the list is SG James Blackmon who Coach Cal is visiting today. FWIW Blackmon's dad played for Kentuckly in the 80's too.

Cool down bud. It isn't just about throwing Rashad's head on an avatar and calling it good. It is also about guessing what his favorite TV show was as a kid. In my case, maybe it's more about choosing his parent's favorite TV show....

I won't feel comfortable until we have a signature.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Don't get me wrong. I would be happy beyond this world to get Vaughn, but it is so hard for me to cheer for Kansas to get two 5 star guys in a package deal to make our chances for Vaughn better.

It's still possible that Kansas doesn't get either of the two. We shall see. But if they do, it'll just make it that much sweeter when we beat them both times and in the Big 12 Championship game next year.

I won't feel comfortable until 10 years after our national championship and the NCAA hasn't vacated it yet.

They are going to get studs anyway so cheer for not-Vaughn studs. There will not be a day where we out-recruit KU while Bill is there.
