Re: Rashad Vaughn

Aww thats cute. You guys cant even take a quality honest post without a troll response. (give or take a few reasonable people here)

I found this from someone posting to a UNLV forum. Many are laughing from afar at how you guys really do think Vaughn is a lock....well good luck with that.

Oh and for all these football related posts? lols.
The only thing relevant was the 82-70 beat down you received last season.

I know I have this bookmarked for the future meltdown city. Have a good day.

I would love to bookmark a UNLV thread but no one can find a forum that is worth a ****.

This post is hilarious considering UNLV fans already think Vaughn is in the bag for them. One of your "insiders" thinks he's a strong UNLV lean for crying out loud. Let's face it, the only people who thinks he's a UNLV lean are associated with UNLV. One of the leaders? Sure. But no one is in the lead right now considering he's not deciding for another 6 months.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Interesting, but at this point it seems more bandwagon for the writers than anything. The fact that UNLV has like 2 predictions is silly.

At some point in the next few months, a couple guys will pick UNLV then a bunch of others will follow.
You shut your hore mouth! All of your predictions are belong to ISU.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I'm sorry, but I just don't see Vaughn going to UNLV. FIrst of all, what conference do they even play in? Seriously. I don't know. I'm guessing they basketball powerhouses like Nevada and Ball state. Whereas coming to ISU he gets to play against KU, Texas, Baylor, OSU, etc. He's a helluva lot closer to home, since all indications point to him being one and done. He loves our head coach. It's not ******* Las Vegas.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I wouldn't laugh at UNLV, but I don't think they are our closest competitor. Being in Vaughn's backyard could help them gain a lot of momentum. There will be a rep at every single one of Vaughn's home games from UNLV and if Vaughn falls in love with Vegas, it could hurt us. Still think we are in the lead and UNLV is third behind UNC, but they can gain ground on us.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I'm confused are you defending unlv guy. I'm saying the fact he's even on our forum means he thinks were a threat

I kind of see what you are saying but don't a lot of our people post on Minnesota's forum about Vaughn and I don't consider Minnesota much of a threat at this point? In fact, I consider UNLV a bigger threat than Minnesota. I'm just debating the logic with myself on this one is all and whether or not it makes us hypocrites.

I cheer every UNLV defeat, and I have since the early days of Tarkanian. Can't stand that cheater, and never could. Enjoy the remnants of your once-proud little program with its dirty little past.

Om Nom Nom...

Prostitution is legal in Clark County (where Vegas is located) something Story County cannot offer. :)

UNLV, heh. Mid majors are just the worst when they think anyone actually gives a **** about them.

Exactly. I think he came here to check out the competition. People on here couldn't handle that so it got adversarial.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Serious question here, and I know UNLV is still in the running (no pun intended ;-)), but what do they offer that ISU cannot offer besides being in a bigger and better city and that Vaughn has been there for a year or so?

I understand part of this may be a relationship thing, but I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it after that. UNLV has been a good program the last handful of years (though they have been eliminated in the first round of the tournament for the last four years) for sure, but ISU has also been good the last small handful of years and it looks to be looking up as well (and ISU has won its opening round games the last two tournaments and should have knocked off tOSU last season in the round after).

There's no doubt that Vaughn would be "the man" at both schools, but this doesn't excuse the fact that ISU plays in a better, more exposed conference than UNLV and usually has more room to get more air time on national networks, more time in print in national publications, etc.. especially if the team is good. A network like ESPN or CBS is much more apt to pick up ISU vs. Kansas almost any day than UNLV vs. BYU or Colorado State. The competition and talent on average in the Big 12 is better than the Mountain West. If you're a scout, would you rather see how Vaughn is doing versus mid major teams (maybe a few NBA players), or future NBA players and even first round or lottery picks in the Big 12? You'd have a much better gauge as a scout looking at this and it's probably more attractive even if you're averaging say 18 points a game in the Big 12 versus 23 in the Mountain West.

UNLV has had some decent recruiting as well the last few years (Anthony Bennett too) especially with signing the #15 player for the class of 2014, but ISU has also had good recruiting classes as well to bring in great talent. Also the fact that Fred Hoiberg played 10 seasons in the NBA and then was in the front office of the Wolves for another 4-5 years. To say he's connected in the NBA is an understatement. Also, it's well known that Hoiberg doesn't like to come in with one set and make his players adapt to it. He adapts to his players and it's well known that he lets players play with the freedom they want to which we all know is very attractive to most players.

We also have practice facilities which are only a few years old, which are some of the best now in the country for college and according to some, just as good as some NBA teams' facilities.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm having trouble understanding what makes UNLV so special ahead of ISU outside of the fact that Las Vegas is a bigger/better city than Ames and Vaughn has been there for the last year or so.

This could be all that matters. Only Vaughn knows...if that.
