Re: Rashad Vaughn

There are a few factors that I could see coming into play here - they may not have any influence whatsoever:

It seems that Vaughn enjoys playing with Kelly Paul Oubre at Findlay. Who knows if they have any interest in playing together, but that makes Kansas a player in my book.

Also, a little Twitter stalking (I am a creeper, yes) will show you that Vaughn has a girlfriend from MN that now plays for Georgetown. Who knows if that has any impact on where he goes (doubt it), but it could give UNC a bit more momentum in RV's mind as he would be a bit closer to her. This is a high school kid, and I know I'd have done about anything for a girl at 18.

Just sayin'.

Kansas is a player in this...end of that story.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I trust Jon Rothestein when he thinks it'll come down to ISU v. UNLV on Vaughn.

I think that this season is going to play a factor in his decision and I think it'd be huge for us to land Cunningham, so he knows who he'll be playing with. The other upside that ISU has over UNLV is the conference. The Big 12 will be tougher night in and night out than UNLV will, and after this season, he's going to be used to playing with the top dogs. That, plus his relationship with Fred and the proximity of Ames to his home may all be big pluses in our column.

I agree with this and I'll add to it the fact that we cannot lose to teams like Texas Tech and TCU this year if RV makes this season's outcome a major factor.

The gang did not know you were a creeper. That is okay as long as you provide the relevant info to the forum. Did you notice that the last two crystal clear predictions were from UK types? North Carolina is still a ways from Georgetown.

If his girlfriend mattered, he wouldn't have eliminated Georgetown just recently or crossed Maryland off the list earlier on. It's a non-factor.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Hey you're right, when Kansas lost to TCU this year that definitely affected Wiggins decision right? I kinda highly doubt that a few bad losses really affect a kids overall decision. Most athletes understand that those things happen.

Kentucky lost to freaking Robert Morris and they still pulled in the greatest recruiting class of all time. So yes, we better not lose to TCU/Tech but at the same time its not going to absolutely kill our recruiting class.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

As most of us know an updated version of ESPN top 100 came out. Rashad is at 17 and ranked the #2 SG. Kelly Oubre ranked the #1 SG on 247 but #3 SF came in at #10. He's pretty much a lock for Kansas. If Rashad wants to be the guy and not over-shadowed by someone else, I think this will shy him away from them. (hopefully)

Actually, if she is from MN, if they intend to stay together, it might benefit us/Minnesota also as they will still come back to visit parents/friends etc. But yeah, eliminating GTown to me signifies it's a non issue

The fact that Kansas and Kentucky have a recent history with final fours and National Championships gives them some freedom to lose some games they shouldn't. While I don't think those losses would necessarily lose us a recruit, they certainly hurt our body of work as compared to the same loss by Kansas or Kentucky. We are still in the building mode whereas teams like KU and Kent are in reload annually.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

My assumption is that the girlfriend is a non-issue as well, but I was trying to get this thread back on its rails with some kind of real conversation. :)

I am guessing his girl was the reason g-town was on there. After seeing them play am sure he realized that they are nothing like the teams he wants to play for.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

The sheer size and ridiculousness of this thread has me thinking Vaughn will choose Kansas and crush all these dreams.

Vaughn has the potential to be the most loved cyclone in history if he chooses isu or most hated if he chooses ku

Self is most certainly not an idiot. One of the best coaches in the country. In fact, if Hoiberg left ISU, and I could pick anyone to replace him, I'd pick Self.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

If Vaughn's parents are half as smart as I want to believe they are, they aren't going to buy what that idiot is selling.

You can hate him all you want but you can't deny that he's a top 5 coach in the country. I seriously don't get all the Bill Self hate around here. He talks us up all the damn time.
