Is anyone admitting that maybe we were wrong about Tom Herman and wishing we still had him doing this for us?

I will admit it.

I think Tom Herman would look pretty good with Sam Richardson, Aaron Wimberly, and Quenton Bundrage at his disposal. I think all are more talented than anyone he had at those respective positions.

He'd still need an o-line, but I think he'd work around having a bad o-line a lot better than Mess has.

Jeff Mullen, Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback coach for the Charlotte 49ers.

2013 is the first year Charlotte has a football program since 1948. In their first year of FCS football, they're currently 4-3. Mullen has been a college football coach since December 1994. He has coaching experience at Ohio, Wake Forest, West Virginia, and Charlotte. He was the OC at WVU when Pat White was there with Bill Stewart as the head coach.

He isn't coaching at another BCS school which takes away the point other posters have that no one is going to move away from an OC job at a BCS school to come coach at ISU.
He's also a midwest guy, originally from Ohio.

Strength of schedule and level of division aside, below is a statistical comparison of the two offenses. Charlotte's roster consists of mostly freshman, both true and redshirt, and most players are from the state of North Carolina.

If we can get an absolutely proven commodity (and by that I mean as OC at a major conference school), I'd certainly make the change at OC. Our offense has needed a shot in the arm for years, and we can't pass up the opportunity if it presents itself.

However, at this point I would not make the change for sake of making the change. And I wouldn't be in favor of bringing in someone who has only had a successful offense at a mid-major level or lower.

From the original post, I'd be in favor of any of those 5, if we could get them.

People realize Norm Chow has been a pretty big failure ever since he left USC right? I wouldn't consider him a home run hire at all.

It's legitimate. He has Iowa connections, his time at West Virginia is coming to a close, and if he has connections to the staff I could see it happening.

Holgorsen is a better head coach than Rhoads is. I don't think it's very likely at all that he would be ISU's OC. He will be offered another head coaching position somewhere.

I absolutely disagree. Rhoads was 6-7 last year, Holgorsen was 7-6, and Holgorsen had way more talent to work with.

This is obviously a subjective call. I'd probably rather have Holgorsen as our head coach right now than Rhoads... IF... we were guaranteed Holgorsen would stick around for a while.

I prefer to have an offensive minded head coach that hires a good defensive coordinator than vice versa.

U.S. of A.
For whatever team may need them, I suspect these three might be available at the end of the year

1 Norm Chow-proven OC, home run hire. Won't survive at Hawaii as HC
2.Dana Holgerson-proven OC but days may be numbered as HC at WVA. Another home run hire as OC
3. Todd Monken-former Okie State OC, may not survive as HC this year
Other strong candidates:
Ed Warinner-former OC under Mangino when KU made it run, now at Ohio State
Mark Mangino-former KU head coach.

Lets get Lane Kiffin. He's used to coaching players in our same uniforms.

Wally has had 4 years of decent defense, and a lifetime resume of success. Messingham has 18 games of failing and an inability to adjust to anything. I think CPR thought Herman was an issue because of the lack of productivity the offense had, but after 4.5 years of constant clusters it looks like a system issue.
Wally's D just gave up 58 points. I know the O wasnt great and really pitiful but that is still 8 touchdowns.

1. How do you know this?
2. Really makes me think Hologsen will be our next OC if this is true.
Because I know them. Sturdy lived with and played football with Holgorsen's brother Brett at St. Ambrose. Incidentally Brett Holgorsen's son is a highly recruited QB in Texas. Both Dana and Sturdy have ties to Mike Leach and Hal Mumme from when Dana was at Iowa Wesleyan.
