A friend asked if he could use my son's ticket for the game, darn nice of him. I told him even if I couldn't use the tickets I wouldn't give them to a Hawkeye fan and he isn't even an obnoxious Hawkeye fan. That brought up the question, how much would a Hawkeye fan have to give to give up my tickets to the game? For reference, section 233 row 10. I figure $100-$200/ticket would be my breaking point. Were is your breaking point?

Depends what you'd get from a Cyclone fan. I'm thinking that you'd get the exact same price from a Cyclone fan so go that route. If a Hawk fan was going to pay me $100 more than a Cyclone fan I could stomach doing it.

Iowa has a good team this year, but Hilton is a rare place to come away with a win. I expect a good game, but the Squawks will head back to Iowa City with their tail between their legs this year.

Gotta protect the home court to get where we want to go.

Umm people act like Woodberry is the only 7 footer ISU has had to deal with the past 5 years. Look at how they have defended vs big guys the past few years, look at the results.

This^^^
Woodbury will start but I fully expect him to be replaced by Oglesby and play a majority of the "Center" minutes. I don't think Woody can guard either 20 feet out. Ejim and Niang will be shooting wide open threes or driving past him all game, if Fran is stubborn.
I'll point to the game last year when Travis Ford tried forcing thier their 7 footer to play against Fred, it didn't last long.

Can't wait, should be some great basketball. I am glad we are no longer in the days of hoping our rivals suck so we have a chance to beat them. I think the Cyclones win, and not just because of Hilton. I think we would get them on a neutral court as well.

LOL, this is probably true. I was sort of scared of him last year and attributed his low productivity to the fact that he was a FR big man. So far this season, I see no improvement.

Maybe he'll be one of those post players that doesn't break out until he's a JR or SR, but as of now, he's not in Iowa's best 7 players, IMO.

Obviously this guy didn't watch much of the Iowa game last night against Notre Dame. ISU is going to push the tempo faster then what the Irish did and poor Woodberry was only making it to the FT line on the defensive end about the time Iowa was already inbounding the ball to head back on offense. Woodberry is going to be picking splinters out of his *** from riding the pine the majority of the game because he simply can't keep up with the fast pace.

The one thing I really liked in watching that game is how many times Irish players were able to shoot wide open 3's against Iowa. If Fran doesn't address that it is going to be a very long night for Iowa. The Irish shot nearly 50% from deep. Uh oh...

This match up is shaping up to be pretty epic, IMO. I feel like this....

If we don't play sloppy with the ball, we win by 8+. If Iowa forces TO's, Iowa stays in the game and it comes down to who plays the best in the last 60 seconds.

Hilton is a huge edge for us that can probably even keep us in the game if we don't play our best. If they don't play well, Hilton will probably send us over the edge and turn it into a comfortable margin for us, similar to how last year's game ended for them.

I want to add that ISU have (last year) and will face a lot tougher Centers than anything Iowa has. Same goes for Marble, yes he is a good guard but ISU probably faced 3 better guards this year, its not like the Big 12 hasn't and doesn't have better guards than Marble it in.

People also forget that CFH is a master at finding a teams weakness and going after it time and time again and creating mismatches.

I have my fingers crossed that Marble will be matched up against Kane. We will see how good Marble can defend when Kane posts him up under the basket. Look for this as part of the ISU strategy. Get Marble in foul trouble and the only potentially explosive scorer on Iowa's team will be sitting on the bench watching.

Wisconsin hasn't lost yet with a tougher schedule. Those are facts. How Iowa plays them this year or last year has nothing to do with who is the better team right now. If you want to debate a head to head matchup that's a whole different story but Wisconsin is clearly the better team right now

So you must think UMass is the best team in the country right? Using your reasoning UMass is 7-0, SOS is 3rd and RPI is 1, so they must be better than everyone else.:skeptical:

I'm willling to bet Iowa won't play a whole lot of man against ISU.

When we have the ball, Marble will probably have to guard Kane. Maybe I'm wrong, but don't see Gessel or Clemmons stopping Kane from getting high percentage shots in the lane. If their bigs bring help, that will just leave Ejim, Niang and Hogue open looks from 3 or paths to the basket.

Marble's length may help contain Kane. I think he's a pretty good defender from what I recall.

You're probably right. I think they're a zone-first team now. That will be quite interesting because ISU is such an unselfish team and our assist-to-TO ratio is off the charts. If we don't play lose with the ball, I like our chances against the zone because we can score in so many ways (3's, in the paint and some mid-range).

The key to defeating Iowa's D starts way before the 3 point arc though. Last night they forced ND to start their offense just past half court. ISU is much faster than ND so I don't see them being as effective defensively.

The key will be for Iowa to present problems in getting the ball up the court, because once we do that, our players tend to make the right passes.
