@Trey_Scott3: Isadore Outing committed to Memphis today. Was targeted by Iowa State and Nebraska. Contact with Cyclones dropped off recently, though.

Kid wasn't going to wait forever. Sure with Ayeni and the 2 others he knew there wasn't a spot. He was apparently told we only had 3 spots left. Not surprised he pulled the trigger today elsewhere. Best of luck to him.

I'd still like to get a guy to replace Jensen. Coe was really coming on at DT and he and Irving would be tough together. Wonder if ole CPR might be pulling a Tuba Rubin with Wendell T?

Maybe they try him out there since it is a position of need, but I really think he was recruited to kick our interior running game into gear. Like CPR said after his signing, "Wendell Taiese is a large human being."

Oh, no doubt. I'd like to see him at OL. But CPR may have brought him in as a backup plan at DL just in case. No matter where he ends up, I am looking forward to seeing him pancake or blow up some Hoks!

David Moala is a possibility.

They would have to be holding one scholarship for him. He's the best shot they have left at DT, and he's ready to play right away at a position of need. He's coming in for his visit next weekend.

Or a commitment we already have has the understanding that their scholarship offer could be a grayshirt offer if we need it to be.

Based only on my own conjecture I am going to guess that it isn't going to be an issue and that we have some attrition from non contributing upperclassmen.

I'm guessing that if Outing wanted to be a Cyclone he could have..... weeks ago. I think ISU was going to take either Ayeni or Outing, whichever committed first, and then the other one would lose out.

When you get down to this late in the ballgame, the advantage sometimes turns in favor of the school over the recruit. You only have a few spots left to hand out, so you tell a possible recruit.... "Hey, we want one more DE in this class and that's all we have room for. We definitely would like you to come on board, but we can't wait forever. So basically, we are going to take the first DE left on our board that commits to us, and then we're closing our recruiting for the year at your position. So if you want to be a Cyclone, you better not wait too long."

Outing wanted to commit weeks ago but the staff told him we were short on spots and he had to wait. Apparently we ran out of spots today.

Ok, then I'm wrong about that. I figured we would have taken Outing weeks ago if he wanted to commit to us. I guess not.

Sounds like he was a fall back guy in case we couldn't get Ayeni then.

Not sure if he was. I think the staff decided they didn't need to prioritize a High School DE. Ayeni is probably going to end up playing inside.

The thing I think this means is that since we didn't take a HS DE this year, one of the freshmen LBs probably ends up at DE like Meeks or Madison.

Not being critical but wow! Can't believe only 1 Iowa recruit in the whole class. Times have definitely changed.

if so, my guess is that it would be Meeks. Madison isn't putting on a whole lot of weight. From what I hear, he's still just under 215 pounds. Not that he couldn't get there, but Meeks is at something like 250 now with only a year in a college weight room. He has by no means maxed out either. He may soon "outgrow" the LB position right into a DE.
