This stings, BUT...

Gotta look for a sweep of Okie St. Both teams will be hungry looking for resume/seeding boosters. And it'd be a big help to get OU on Saturday.

Yes. As good of a team as this is, it has warts. Someone will get us on the road. We're not going to go 18-0 in conference.
Really tough to go 18-0 but man KU looks like they could. Can't believe they started 7-0 through arguably the toughest part of the conference schedule and also did it early. Would be shocked if KU drops more that 2 though.

I'd agree with this. They'll most likely finish 17-1 or 16-2. It's just hard to go 18-0.

This team is so frustrating to watch. How many stupid, unforced turnovers do I have to watch in a game? And why do I cringe whenever anyone shoots the 3? If we had a McGee, Christopherson, or even Babb, we'd be a totally different team, then maybe worthy of a top 10 ranking. But we don't so I guess I'll have to keep cringing.

yes, please do. loved all of those players, but honestly, this team is as good. just different. they always are.

Oh of course on paper it's easier, no doubt.

But that doesn't translate into knowing anything about the future. We're not above to losing to any of these teams at home or away. I think the freak 14-0 start has made people forget that. BYU, Iowa, and UNI were all a SINGLE shot away from beating us.

Good lord, debbie downer alert.

This team can and should run the table the rest of the way if they play like they did tonight (which is exactly how they played to 14-0 with a tourney win). 7th place with 2 less games than many of the teams ahead of us, and we've had the hardest schedule...you need to compare apples to apples, sunshine.

A healthy perspective for the moment, as a fan, for this season: Assume Iowa State is a 5-seed-range tournament team, with a realistic shot to finish second in Big 12, hope to see a February "Hoiberg Upswing" and hit maximum potential following Selection Sunday.

Add gravy for each accomplishment beyond those levels.

All we have to do is win the games we're supposed to win and we'll be dancing. Not concerned at all.

Only problem with that is, when the season started people said we should win at places like Texas and Oklahoma, too. Conference has turned out way better than most thought. Not trying to predict or downplay any number of wins in the games left, but out of curiousity only, will 9-9 in conf. be good enough to make the dance regardless of who the team is due to conference strength?

If KU wins Saturday, then they probably will go 18-0. Texas has the length to take down Kansas that so many other teams lack.

Absolutely. Our computer rankings and SOS are off the charts.

9-9 makes our overall record 23-9, which is the same number of wins as the past 2 seasons. Add in at least one in KC, call it 24-10, with our RPI numbers, SOS numbers, and the overall strength of the Big XII, no doubt we get a bid. Personally, I think we will be in the 11-7 or 12-6 range, where we'd have a good shot to finish at least 3rd. Then we'd have a legit chance to win 2 in KC, and not have to play KU until the chipper. But to the original point, we are a tourney team, provided we beat the teams we are supposed to.

There is no way on this earth that ISU doesn't make the tournament. Forget the fact that you have a very good team (most teams would have been run out of the gym last night with the way KU started the game) and a very good coach, the bubble is incredibly soft this year. We don't see it because the Big 12 is so good, but the SEC outside of Florida and maybe Kentucky is terrible, the PAC outside of Arizona is terrible, the ACC isn't deep, etc. Even 9-9 (you'll do better) with the wins you've already gotten will easily put you in.

I think ISU ends up 2nd in the conference when it's done and a team nobody wants to meet in the tourney.

The game itself doesn't sting, it wasn't a heart breaker and the result was expected.

What stings is the big 12 standings.

7th out of 10.

Ouch.

I'd trade any of those non-conference wins for a win in conference. The 14-0 start is near meaningless at this point with how crucial every game is from here on out.

That top 10 ranking was such a tease. Combine that with all the talk that THIS IS THE YEAR Kansas finally doesn't win the Big 12, that's what stings. Soon to be 10 straight titles, and I learned my lesson. Until it's mathematically impossible, I'm assuming Kansas gets the title until the end of time.

I'll be shocked if we finish anywhere near 7th. We'll pass West Virginia for sure, they haven't played Kansas yet and their Big 12 wins are Tech twice, Baylor, and TCU. They have almost completely used up their games against the bottom of the Big 12. With our soft February we should move up somewhere from 3-5

Our series with Okie State is going to determine where we end up in that 2-6 range of the standings. I'm fairly confident in getting Texas and OU at home, and I doubt anybody else is going to go to KU and have any better luck than we did this year. Depending on your feelings on the Cowboys this year, could you say our 3 or 4 toughest games are all behind us?

Protect the Home Court (6-0)

Win at WVU, TCU, & Baylor

@OSU & @KSU toss ups

Anywhere between 24-25 wins before the conference tournament.

Difficult but not impossible...
