I'm surprised at how many people on here see clark getting significant minutes next year as a freshman. I realize there will be some extra minutes to fill till McKay becomes eligible but I see those minutes going to Gibson and edozie.

I thought I read that Clark can play shooting guard, or can play like Will Clyburn but is stronger with better ball handling skills? If that is the case, he will see plenty of time on the floor, either as a 3rd guard in a 3 guard offense or a wing, I guess it doesn't even matter in Fred's system anyway.

PT next year will depend on whether Vaughn signs. Nader will be better than him as will SDW. It takes time to acclimate to NCAA ball and to learn Fred's system. A lot of potential though. Does remind me a bit of Clyburn with his ability to drive and shoot. Not as long or explosive though. If we get Vaughn though, I see us going after a big first if one is available. Height and rebounding are really the only weaknesses this year.

huh? If he's already used up one of his five "official" visits on us, isn't it safe to say he already has an offer? After RV,( and you could use Grandstaff at OkSt as another example) I'm not sure how anyone can say someone will be a Cyclone until you see signed LOI.

I guess I don't know if we have officially offered him or not. He's probably going to take other visits, but I have a good feeling about him being a Cyclone

He would get garbage minutes. Behind Nader/McKay/Niang/Hogue. Would be tough to pull time from those guys. Could get plenty of time sophomore year though.

I really love this kid. Think he will be a great player. Looks very strong for his age and decent shot. Would love to get this kid.

Clark does have an ISU offer. I bet he's a Clone regardless of what Vaughn chooses.

Gibson plays zero significant minutes as a Jr on a team that is lacking bodies in the paint, yet somehow he's going to play as a Sr on team that will go at least 4 deep in the frontcourt? Highly doubt it.

I think people just need to accept that CFH doesn't see a good fit with Gibson, and the only way he's going to see the floor is in mop-up duty or extreme foul emergencies.

My point was that they WILL go 4 deep in the front court. Until late December when McKay is eligible I think it will be one of the 2 seniors that have played in the system for a number of years. A lot of expectations for freshman on this site are unrealistic. Our 2 freshman this year have been outstanding, yet one of them isn't living up to many peoples expectations. Of the last 2 freshman classes, 3 have had major contributions, 3 have not. Maybe he will be able to contribute in the front court his freshman year, but it's not fair to the kid to expect it from him.

In my opinion I would rather have a four year post lefty in Clark than a one and done that could ruin chemistry

This...I'm much happier with an experienced transfer one and done than a FR. RV might be great...but like almost all FR he'll need transition time. I'd rather have 3-4 year guys...than a bunch of one and done guys.

The other thing is that one and done only really works when you're like UK and you can reload one and done's again. I don't think we're there yet.

No, one and done's work perfectly when you only have one or two of them and supplement the rest of the roster with solid 4 year guys. Does this ring a bell to you? It's been KU ever since Self got there. I think it's worked out pretty well for them, don't you think?

Lets stop making ourselves feel better by making up stuff like this. If Vaughn isn't coming here, we'll be fine. If he does, we'll be even better next year.

Fred clearly knows more about what his roster needs than you do.

I don't understand the chemistry concern. Kane seemed to fit in just fine and he had way more baggage than Vaughn does. Fred will bring the team together either way.

I'm not saying that Clark will start, play significant minutes, or even contribute much of anything. Way too early to make that call. However, if there are 5-8 min for a forward to play in mop-up duty or whatever, my money would be on Clark over Gibson. What upside is there to playing Gibson (a Sr who doesn't fit this system) over a more talented freshman who has 3 more years to improve?
