New of JFK assassination/Ruby shooting Oswald on live TV. It's almost for-granted considering how much analysis has followed since then, but I can't imagine how shocking that weekend would have been at the time.

On a more positive note, from same period: Watching The Beatles on Ed Sullivan.

I actually did see the first lunar-landing, was aware of what was happening but too young to grasp its historic impact.

Quite a few others I could cite, those were first to come to mind.

]Would have loved to see Queen live[/B].

Would have been cool to see (from safe viewing distance of course) a nuclear weapons test.

I really could enjoy the hell out of a time machine, there are so many things id love to just witness happening throughout history.

Queen for sure. One of the first CDs I ever had was theirs as my dad was a big fan and turned me onto them.

Actually just this Saturday, the wife and I went to the broadway touring show titled "We Will Rock You". My wife was iffy going into it, but about 5/6 times she leaned over and asked "they play this song?"

Would also have loved to see the Beatles, The Who.

Wilts 100 pt game.

After watching Caddyshack 1,459,563 times, I would have loved to be on that set for the filming.

As as far as future things, I want to be there on April 6th, 2014 when ISU wins the national title.

Well, so far I WAS around for everything that people have listed, other than the decadence of Rome...missed that one by a few decades...

My father was an Aero E with Boeing in the 60's. He was part of a large contingent Boeing sent from Seattle to Florida in 1966, on loan to NASA. It was an incredibly exciting time to be there. We were there for almost 3 years, during most of the Apollo era. We could see the rockets going up from our home in Cocoa Beach, and about 10-15 seconds after we saw them, we could hear them. Most of the Boeing families headed back home after Apollo 12. We watched the disaster that was Apollo 13 from back in Washington.

What do I wish I had been around to experience? Good question. I think I would have liked to have met Eleanor Roosevelt & Amelia Earhart...two women that were way before their time.

Just for starters... NY Yankees in the 20's. Woodstock (especially Hendrix). Pistol Pete at LSU. Led Zeppelin. Million Man March. The Rumble in the Jungle. Secretariat Triple Crown.

I would have loved to see Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin in concert live in their hay day. Unfortunately I was born in 82, so I missed that boat.
what do you mean by Pink Floyd in hay day?

I was born in 80, I saw Pink Floyd live in Ames 94 North American tour with my family.
pretty packed stadium. The kickoff of the tour was live on tv.

In terms of the ISU basketball theme I just missed being able to see Gary Thompson and Wilt Chamberlain go at it in the armory. Would have loved to been at that game.

Good topic to discuss!

From a cyclone standpoint, I have been pretty fortunate (born in 76) to have literally seen the hayday of Cyclone athletics. Johnny Orr, Sweet 16, beating, er thumping, Danny and the Miracles in person (that....was...awesome), the Mayor, Justus Thigpen going off against OSU, Troy Davis, first bowl win ever (and two of the three all time), Marcus Fizer, Larry Eustachy, Jamaal Tinsley, Seneca, beating OSU in football (had extra tickets, couldn't give them away before the game), and now that I have kids, they are getting to see some of this too (which I think is the best part).

In terms of non Cyclone related things.....I would have loved to see Zeppelin in their prime, experience muscle cars, and maybe grown up in the 70's vs. bieng too young to understand / experience the 70's.

Dday: to land and survive.

I have a direct-line (4X great) grandfather who died in the Civil War, which explains my interest in the topic. The first thing that came to mind was the Battle of Gettysburg, specifically Pickett's Charge - Union soldiers later wrote that the Confederate advance was a thing of beauty.

Postscript: If it's a requirement that you had to participate in the event, I'll change mine to watching the final game of the 1936 Green Bay Packers championship season, featuring a young Don Hutson and an old Johnny "Blood" McNally.
