Man we if we got Lee then Niang could play more of the 4 and not have to use so much energy rebounding and playing D on opposing 5's. Niang would be matched up with someone who would most likely be the same size or smaller almost all game. Especially once late season hits and Mckay would also be there to rotate into the 5.
Fred has built ISU into a team that can compete for Big 12 championships. In order to win the Big 12 regular season, we need to beat a team that has won it 10 straight years. IMO Fred needs to build a roster that can help us consistently beat KU. Sure we beat them last weekend, but before that KU beat ISU something like 18 of 19 games.
I don't care if we get a transfer, prep or HS but we have two needs:
- A scoring combo guard who can hit the 3 or finish at the basket.
- A physical post player. Lee sounds like a great fit, but the reality is we don't need a great scorer. We need a guy who can body up against the Perry Ellis and Sprangler type guys
I feel we have solid post guys next year in McKay, Niang, Nadel and Hogue- that will do against most teams. However, against KU and UT - we could use a bruiser down low. To the posters who dis a guy because he isn't a 3 point shooter that is insane. Even with a kid like Lee on the court we can easily have 3-4 other 3 point shooters on the court and basketball isn't all about scoring- it is also about making it harder for the opponent to score. If ISU could have slowed down Perry Ellis in the first half and the 2nd chance points in the 2nd half- the KU game would not have been close. A physical post defender that can help ISU from doubling down will go a long ways to helping ISU win Big 12 titles.
