Thought tonight's episode was great. Seemed to set up a lot of interesting story lines going forward. I'm interested to see what happens between LittleFinger and Sansa. He said everyone in the capitol was liars, and then proceeded to tell Sansa she was going to be safe (seems fishy).
The book sex scene was consensual. The TV show not so.

According to the writer of the episode it was consensual. May have just not came across that way to everyone. I thought she wanted it (maybe my perception was colored from reading the books of course).

Thought this was a fine episode, especially for an aftermath/stage setter.

This is not to start a whole "stop discussing the book" thing - but that scene actually bothered me. In the book, Jaime does NOT rape her. I'm not sure what that accomplishes, it makes you think less of his character and it would make some sympathize with Cersei. I'm just curious to see where that goes.

This is going to sound awful, but it seemed to me that it was Jamie's way of punishing Cersei for falsely accusing Tyrion (I get the impression that Jamie is on Tyrion's side) and being so cold to him earlier.

It felt like Cersei deserved to be the recipient of something awful after the way she had been treating people. Only GOT can make you feel that there was something cosmically just about incestual rape.

Not just incest. Im pretty sure that would qualify as rape as well.

Ordinarily. But in this case it's just Lannisters being Lannisters.

I'm sure what got left on the cutting room floor was the rest of the scene where Cersei said "No....Yes....No..... oh, Jaime.... Your helmet is so.... BIG...."

I like that interpretation. I hope other people who didn't have the background on the scene saw it that way, too, and didn't hate Jaime for it. How messed up is it having incestuous sex by your dead inbred son's body??

I didn't have any background on that scene and I thought it was rape.

I really didn't like the "rape" scene last night. Totally changes the dynamic. In the book I read it as Cersei manipulating him to get him back to "her" side, as she asks him to kill their brother.

Great episode. I just love how the show makes you think one way about a character and make you believe they'll change and then WHAM they revert back. Just when you thought the Dog might be a decent person due to Arya's influence he robs that poor farmer. Totally caught me off guard.

I loved his line about "how many Starks have to get their heads chopped off for you to figure this out?".

I really thought the Cersi/Jamie scene was more about Jamie taking a stand against the manipulation of his sister. Cersi has just TOLD Jamie he would kill Tyrion, he said it would be taken care of in the court, she said No, you (Jamie) will kill him. I am interested to see where this goes since Tyrion has asked to see Jamie, potentially to ask him to speak on Tyrion's behalf at the trial.

Prince Oberon being named as one of the 3 "judges" is also intriguing. IMO, his character doesn't strike me as one that will be manipulated by the Lannisters. If he wants revenge against the Mountain, he'll get it on his own. He doesn't need a deal with Tywin.

Sansa/Littlefinger has emerged has a storyline I wasn't expecting but am interested to see where it goes.

You know its a good show when the bisexual orgy seemed rather pedestrian compared to everything else that has occurred.

Agree. Jaime was starting to redeem himself by looking after Brienne and standing up to Tywin. Wish they would have shot that scene without it seeming so rapey.

I think that episode was clearly telling the viewers that despite showing the Hound and Jamie Lannister as decent people lately that these are in fact villains. Let's not forget all the awful things Jamie did in the first few seasons and the Hound is just a ruthless brute. it also seemed to try to get us to feel sorry for Cersei and it seems like having her raped by her own brother definitely makes you feel for her as a victim despite her being so horrible.

I never felt Cersei was a victim there. I felt it was punishment, and it felt just. These characters are rarely straight good or straight bad. Jamie and the Hound both have admirable traits, and severe flaws.

I'm kind of reserving some judgment on Jamie until Tyrion's trial comes to pass.

I don't disagree with you but I guess I don't ever see rape being a just punishment, even in the context of this show. I totally understand your point though, Jamie did seem like he was trying to hurt Cersai for hurting him repeatedly.
