This is news to me! Lots A-1, A-2, A-3, A-4, B-5, and B-6 are totally free. No need to donate. And at women's games, many more lots than that.

Hmmm. When my wife and I went to the Texas Tech game this year, the parking regulators wouldn't let us in to those lots, even though there were open spots galore by the alumni center. We ended up parking by the sand volleyball courts and walking up the hill and across University. In the snow. Only to see a line of cars turning into the lots we were denied access to five minutes before.

Just an off-topic whine from me. Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

I think a few times they were blocked off for CY Stephens, or an other event.

They are balcony corner seats. They went from 99 to 129 to 149 over last 3 years. Basically the 99 was to get butts in the seats after the McDermott era. Now they are gradually trying to find real market value for them

My tip top corner seat at Kansas is $900 for the season. Like I said, nice.

This should have been done years ago. It's ridiculous to have free basketball parking (or free parking for ANY event at Hilton).

If people will pay it. I'm fine walking a mile to park for free if I have to.

40 years of success versus 3 years.

Your basketball tix, are probably like Nebraska football tix. But your football tix are probably like condoms at the Olympics. There are millions handed out of free.

To me, a basketball ticket price increase is fine. A football one? Not so much. We've had next to no success in football and we're still middle-to-upper pack in the Big 12 in ticket prices. And we are going to jack them up again next year? Ouch.

But I guess as long as people pay it, why not take as much from them as you can.

I assume that's with a donation and not just ticket costs? Because people are paying more than that for balcony seats in Hilton....$1000 or $500 donation + season ticket price.

This is long overdue. I have a buddy that upped his donation to $12,500 this year in an effort to get better bball seats and he was still stuck in the corner of the parquet. Hopefully with this move by JP those with the deepest pockets will get the best seats as it should be.

Twocoach,

I'm interested in what the yearly donation is for your seat's in Allen Fieldhouse. What type of donation is required for seats between the baselines?

I've been in those seats since Day 1 and if they go to $300 they are still a WAY better value than when I paid $99. I can make money selling them when I can't make it but I couldn't give the GMAC era tickets away. They don't require a donation, as of now, which is huge.

Millions? That would take centuries to use at KU.

Considering some of the price gouging I've seen by fellow Cyclone fans for last row corner balcony seats in Hilton, the AD should absolutely drive up tickets prices in Hilton.

Personally, I'm kind of torn on this one. I agree with what you are saying though to an extent. Where I don't agree is if someone has had those seats for 30 years. I don't know the amounts people have been paying over the years. $1000/year may not sound like much now, but if someone has been paying that for 30 years, $1000 for the right to buy a basketball seat was a hell of a lot of money in 1984. Obviously money talks, but you should be rewarded for your dedication to the program as well.

Obviously money is going to be the end all factor as we keep reaching for more success, but you can't forget, some of these people, obviously not all, but a lot of them that are sitting there now are what helped keep Cyclone sports going during the lean years, that shouldn't just be thrown away.

I guess the big issue is how much they are paying and for how long. IMO, there should have been regular increases along the way for people to be able to keep their seats.

Oh please. I've never sold a ticket for more than face value, but no one is forcing these people being "gouged" to buy them. It's not gouging if people are willingly paying those prices.

I hate to see the tickets priced out of the range of some people, but it's expensive to build a winning program and I think most fans are willing to pay a little (or a lot) more to see a winning team than watching a losing team for cheap.

How can a willing buyer be gouged? It's not bottled water after a hurricane.
