I don't want to meet the man that doesn't like Hackers.
I knew a group of hackers that despised that movie. Now Sneakers on the other hand, they couldn't get enough of that one.

Waterworld, Quest For Fire, and Coneheads.
Waterworld got a real bad rap when it came out mainly because it had gone so far over budget. The sets had to be rebuilt two or three times due to storms. The editor quit and Costner edited it on his own.
While it isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, it isn't bad at all. I have watched it many times.

I actually liked Grown Ups with Sandler. I am a sucker for movies that make me look back and want to do something like that. Without a paddle is another that I liked.

This one is right in my wheel house as I love a lot of movies that everyone else hates. First on the list has to be Battleship Earth. This belongs in the category of movies I have to watch whenever they're on. It actually boggles my mind how people can hate Battleship Earth and love Independence Day because they're basically the same movie set in different times. Think about it. Primitive earthlings having to decipher new technology to defeat the big bad aliens. Equally stupid plots, but just fun movies, for me at least.

Next is Waterworld. Everyone pans Waterworld. If you look past the bad acting (quite possibly Dennis Hopper's worst ever acting role) it's good fun.

The Postman is next. Maybe it's just Kevin Costner movies that I like that everyone else hates.

Napolean Dynamite is another. Most of my friends think it's stupid. But I think they just don't get that its a comedic movie and not a teenage angst movie.:pwink:

I got to thinking about this the other day when Tron Legacy was on and I watched it all the way through. I liked the movie a lot but so many people hated it when it came out which I never understood.
What are some others? I am sure there are many more but these come to mind right away.
Tron: Legacy
Vanilla Sky
Prometheus

All good movies. Been a fan of Vanilla Sky forever.

I always wished Jon Lovitz was in there longer.

"If I had your job, I think I'd shoot myself! Let me see if I can find you a pistol."

I use this frequently at work when someone is carping about their job.

That got bad reviews?? I ended up buying it a long time ago and watched it a month ago. Course, I like boxing style movies.

According to Wikipedia, it got very poor reviews, but did find an audience on DVD (which is how I first saw it, too). It apparently does a very poor job of portraying life at the academy (the Navy distanced itself from the film pretty hard, even instructing sailors to avoid seeing the film while in uniform, so as to avoid making people think the Navy approved of it in any way).

But I definitely enjoy it (I'm also a bit of a sucker for boxing movies).

Melancholia

Pretty sure I can guess why. :spinny:

I'll also add one more. I really liked Red Eye (starring Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams); I'm not sure that other people hate it, but nobody ever seemed to talk about it. It just kind of flew under the radar.
