I think attrition kills us more than anything. What if we had all the guys on the team that were supposed to be on the team this year?! ndsu doesn't have that attrition. They are a program that replaces seniors with seniors and juniors. That said, still tough to lose to a FCS team. Even if it's the best fcs team in history.

Here nor there
If our offense can be so bad due to just a couple injuries, it is just another reason why we have the wrong offense.
A finesse, horizontal offense when working well is very productive. But damn, it is sure vulnerable to any degree of execution issues completely derailing it. Not slowing it down, but turning it into complete ineptness. Mangino is not going to change that without getting lucky with another Reesing.

YES. The most passionate fans were the 4 calls from preschool kids LOL. Where is the realistic and passionate fanbase that hold some coaches and players accountable. Most of us still believe and are invested in Cyclones football and have the right to expect a competent D1 program. The biggest insult to the team is just being a-ok with mediocrity and a decrease in quality of football year after year. But thats the problem with having all the media all buddy-buddy with the coaching staff, nobody wants to hurt anybodies feelings.
Agreed entirely. Being critical of a bad team isn't synonymous with not being a good fan. I'd rather have it out in the open.

That is a great point. NDSU lost a bunch of senior starters from last years team, but I think I heard they were starting something like 13 seniors again this year? Is that right?

When we lose a bunch of seniors, it seems like all of the sudden we're having to rely on RS Freshmen or JUCO's to step up.

We are not building good depth at all in this program.

This is a great post.

Chris is probably afraid to lose access if he's at all critical, but I don't think even he would consider himself a true journalist. He's more of a cheerleader or unofficial extension of the University.

That leaves us with "journalists" like Randy Peterson who is more likely to have CPR file a restraining order against him than to write an article critical of the Cyclones.

You have alleged that this Iowa State team quit today.

Before today, have you ever seen a team, in the first game of a season, quit?

I'm assuming you haven't. I know I never have. Do you think the coach of a team that quit in the first game of the season should be allowed to continue coaching?

Looking forward to your well thought out and reasoned response, as always.

Waiting for your response, ISUFan22.

Also, I LOL'd when Chris and Jack came back from a break and about 8 seconds later, Chris said it was time for a break…then a pause…then, oh, we're done with breaks…uh…that's certainly good news.

LOL.

I don't get it. When the media gets all critical and disrespectful of ISU, we get upset. When the media doesn't get all critical and disrespectful of ISU, we are even more upset?

The sad thing is, this is only week one and if we play like we did today and the coaches look as lost as they did today, things are going to get pretty brutal within the fanbase this season.

I'm not so sure about that. Maybe vocally the fanbase will be upset, but I don't see them not coming to games. We seem to support whatever kind of crappy product is on the field. Best fans in the country baby! We'll pay ever increasing ticket prices to come and watch disappointment every week.

It's just an excuse to go party and get drunk in a parking lot every few weekends each fall. Not much else than that.

I've seen some bad threads on this site but this might be up there with the worst. CW goes above and beyond to make this site what it is. To call him out on a day like this is pathetic and sad.

Oh i know all of that, i just meant it will be vicious on here. I agree with what you say and its why Rhoads has it made and isn't going anywhere. We love going to games and having fun and cheering on the team and the fanbase is growing and getting younger and we love CPR. As long as he gets one big win a year, gets to a bowl game every couple years and delivers an epic postgame speech, he's golden. Wins and losses don't really matter because we've experienced losing more than winning. Basketball is what we're serious about at the end of the day.

I don't care to hear about injuries or ejections. Frankly, we should be better than an FCS team at basically every position and we are not. Looking at a long season filled with excuses and "waiting for development". We're in year 6 now of CPR, the time for all that has passed. If he's not winning by now, he's never going to. This **** show continues on all year and the rah rah Rhoads bandwagon is gonna be pretty empty come December.

And I hate on Williams as much as the next guy, but what's he supposed to do, get on the radio and be like "yep, we blow, see ya next year folks"? That's a tough spot to do a live show after an abortion of a game like that.
