I would say Rhoads is McCarney 2.0 - it isn't like Mac was lighting the world on fire.
He already got stuck with an offensive coordinator he didn't want. Now is probably the time to fire him. The players will probably laugh at him with his motivational rhetoric going forward.
But he probably will not cooperate and take a reasonable buy out. I bet they ask him if they can negotiate one this week and Rhoads says f off.
Which means Mangino's presence is wasted since he is the ideal guy to have as an interim HC given his past success in the B12. The next guy up likely doesn't want a successful coach running his offense especially if the next coach is a current OC somewhere like Herman or Montgomery. If Mangino is interim HC its a great spot for ISU because ISU can swing and miss on the hottest up and coming coaches for this year and possibly next. Mangino is the back up plan if the ideal candidates say no and means that you don't have to settle for a mediocre 4th choice as head coach after you can Rhoads you just stick with Mangino if someone says no or asks for too much money.

Yep, and not just the Tulsa game. I admit, for far too long I confused the rah, rah emotion for toughness. We at times play with emotion, but toughness? We have become increasingly weaker the further removed we are from Chizik and DMac IMO.
"We are Iowa State" is ********, particularly when you lose to NDSU. If NDSU and UNI can do better, ISU can do much better.
If Rhoads is such a classy, stand up guy then he should do the honorable thing and quit, allow Mangino control of the rest of the year as a trial basis and let Pollard make the call after this season.

I think it is fair to question whether Rhoads is the right guy. But keep it to the facts and results on the field. To throw a bunch of "players don't like him, won't play for him" crap on him isn't warranted. If players don't like him, they don't rally against WVU last year to win the game. If you have details, share them. If not, don't post third and fourth hand innuendo. It's not fair and not needed to judge his job performance.
Mac is the very reason we have winning expectations. Their records are virtually the same and Mac took over a program in much worse shape than CPR. Much worse.
