Meh.......Jake Gannon is who you try to recruit. These are the guys who give a foundation. I feel MUCH worse aobut this "program" than I did even after the last game. Looking at our roster today, I noticed Coach gave his own son a scholie. nice.

You made that up

Where did you see this? Last I knew Jake was a walkon.

I think he thinks that everybody shown on the roster gets a scholarship. Mistakes like that happen when you've been drunk for a few days straight.

I was wrong.....no scholie. I am used to Ferentz's I guess. I stand corrected on that. I say we no longer recruit Iowa City West High.....what has that done for anybody? For that matter....no more high schoolers. Only Council Bluff and Ellsworth jucos.

I want to say this: Jacob Gannon is a quality young man from a great family....if he felt he had to leave, the problem lies much more with this program than him. Anyone complaining about this fine young man is not seeing what the real problems must be. Seriously, something is rotten.

You are welcome. Thanks for the affirmation. Oh, if that was sarcasm, it sucked. I challenge you to get me banned. Try it.
Hey guys, we're all safe now. dirtynonety is here.

Living by some hard and fast rule that you never quit what you start seems like a poor idea.

But not following through on your commitments isn't a poor idea?

My response to you, Erik and 00 is this:

Look, sometimes it may be the best way to go...and if anyone actually read my original posts, I did say that extenuating circumstances (particularly on the home front) might justify it, also that it isn't the walking away so much as the timing of it that was wrong.

However, you will NOT get me to agree that "maintaining a policy of if you start something, you finish it" is irrational, as roundball is claiming.

NCAA gives us a mercy rule and lets ISU quit football. In exchange for saving the world pain of enduring ISU football - ISU gets to start MBB practice a month early and additional recruiting contacts. No bait-n-switch.

Take the deal or no?

I'm with the people saying that the coaches probably went hard on the team this week and Gannon couldn't take it(said that nicely). Players like Gannon can leave. I don't care. Next man in. Players like Gannon(who quit during season for dumb reasons) shouldn't be on the team in the first place. **** on 'em.

Just taking a guess but I think the players have been babied too much and become pretty soft, which could also explain all the injurys. I think CPR is starting to crack the whip more, and hard nosed coaches like Mangino also doing it obviously. That's also why they hated coach K last year, which he might have went overboard running the OL way too much.

Smells like Herm Edwards. His teams started strong and all players loved him, but after a few years things went south because they babied too much.

Could be. Those who get the most out of their players command the most out of them.

Explain to me where it says Jake Rhoads has a schollie. Seriously, I want you to try to explain it.

I don't imagine that it is much fun to be a Cyclone right now. This kid has probably given his heart and sole to the program for 5 years. While I don't agree with quitting, I can understand why he would be burned out.

Hopefully we can play better against KSU and get a win. Winning fixes a lot of things.
