Four cats own me.

Love dogs, but they're not practical where we live...and with us both working all day & no kids to entertain them. Cats are less needy.

Two AKC registered Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Well. One now. The ex took the other.

While I 100 percent support shelter dogs, they're not the only ones that can be saved. My corgi had champion showdogs as mother and father, but was born with an overbite, so he couldn't be sold as a showdog. He was isolated from his litter and thrown into a horse barn. When we got him he was infested with nests of fleas and had no social skills. So yes, shelter dogs do need to be saved, but I feel like we saved this one in our own way too.

Ever feel like people that breed & show don't really do it because they love the animals? At least the ones I've met...

Yep that is why I like buying them, because usually the ones they are selling have some sort of "unwanted trait" which means that they can't be show dogs. Their unwanted traits are so small that no one, besides a show dog judge would notice and they are some of the nicest dogs ever. Also they usually discount them quite a bit. However, this time I'm buying from a guy that I know takes care of all his dogs and if he doesn't like the person he is selling to he won't sell you a dog. So if he has any left over puppies he gives them up to be trained as service dogs for free.

many cows, some cats, few horses, and dogs that included a mutt who died at 18, our border collie beagle who passed away over the winter, and the current two who are a husky and some type of lab/bulldog mix.....or at least that's what the vet thinks she is.

For myself, I'd really like to get a husky when we have active kids, or a lab. And a cat.

I would assume you are talking about pets and not livestock correct?

I was just thinking she must mean that as well. I have never seen a more spoiled animal than a show cow. (though I don't know what you pig people do).

It's hit and miss, I think. If you want to buy a purebred dog, you should really research the breeders. The first dog we got the breeder was great. Called us to check up and kept in contact the first year. The second breeder....well, I already told that story.
