At this point what possible argument can there be against this? 4 year player. Big 12 POTY. All Big 12. All-American. Most starts in ISU MBB. Most wins in ISU MBB history. Highest single game scorer in Big 12 history. First team Academic All-American. Graduated with honors. Two international teams. Fan favorite. Excellent representative of ISU.

Yet some argue against it? WTF?
Did anyone keep stats on how much he sweated in his 4 years?

My reaction to people arguing against retiring his jersey:

Agree. There wouldn't be an empty seat in Hilton if they hung it during Hilton Madness! Without question it deserves to be in the rafters..

Kind of wish they'd tell people, that'd place would be packed if that happened

If they do it, it's going to be in a prime spot at a big time game.

Y'all are straight up crazy if you think they would hang a jersey 6 months after a dudes senior season.

Fizer could've been here 4 years and wouldn't have had his jersey hung that quickly.

My guess is it'll be hung 4-5 years from now, when he decides playing basketball isn't really his thing and joins Mr. Fred Hoiberg on staff with his former teammate, Georges Niang, who decided the NBA was boring.

I'd say within 2 years. Wasn't Fred 1997? Nothing says we're waiting half a decade.

We've already missed the boat. We should have hung his jersey on senior day. Right after the final buzzer, he should have taken his jersey off, tossed it to Jamie Pollard, and pointed into the rafters while Jamie hoisted the thing up there.

All to the tune of Oh Canada.

Holy ****. Could you imagine if Ejim and Niang were co-coaches after Hoiberg retires (one recruiting one x's and o's). Cyclone Nation would explode. The internet would break.

Niang will be a hell of a coach when his days are over. When he came here, Fred said he had the highest basketball IQ of anyone on the team. As a freshman.

And he is easy to get along with.

K. I'll be bumping this in 6 more months then.

Melvin's jersey deserves to be in the rafters. He is setting the bar VERY high for what a student-athlete should be.
