The last 22 seconds.

I have a few questions. On the first pass, why did we have a linebacker covering Shipley man to man? Were there no other safeties or corners. On the two passes, where were the safeties? I am not a fan of the prevent defense, but with 22 seconds left and 74 yards to go, most teams have 2-3 safeties lined 20 yards deep at the snap. A safety should have been helping out on both of those last two passes. The prevent forces short passes and does not give up 39 and 29 yard passes. Our defenders should not have been in one on one situations deep on those plays. They should have had safety help.

Correct. You've now passed defense 101.

Because we had not invented a new way to lose yet this year. See at Iowa State we have to show everyone a new way to lose once a year. This was drive down the field in spectacular fashion and score a touchdown. Only to have our team give up 2 rediculous pass plays with hardly and time left on the clock. Then kick a field goal.

Yep. I figured that ISU would find a way to **** this down their pants and they didn't disappoint.

I don't know if anyone watched the Chiefs vs Chargers game but with less than 1 minute to play, the Chargers had the ball on their own 20 and the Chiefs played their secondary 20 yards off the line of scrimmage. It's pretty typical except for ISU I guess.

There is absolutely no reason in a situation like that, you are playing man defense. I hope that a reporter has the marbles to ask them that tomorrow at the press conference. What were we afraid of? Them busting a draw off for 50? Holy hell I still can't believe what I saw.

Not remotely the same thing.

KC vs SD - Chargers had the ball at their own 20 down three points. FG doesn't beat you.
ISU vs UT - Longhorns had the ball at the 40 in a tie game. Any score beats you.

Seriously, I guarantee that the same people complaining about the defense would be the same ones complaining if ISU sat back in prevent and allowed UT to set up a long FG attempt that miraculously went in to beat us because We Are Iowa State.

We play tons of prevent defense....third and 8, third and 7, etc... in all kinds of situations and our corners are giving up 9 yard routes with 5 or 8 yard cushion. We are preventing touchdowns in those third down conversion situations.....is that good coaching?
We Are the guy with the big head who starred in varsity blues and some other tv show who is trying to fake cry.
People do fake cry.

May want to check that, Texas started at the 28 I believe with 22 seconds left, San Diego was at the 20 with 21 seconds to go.

It's not even the last 22 seconds. Any time of that game, Brackens matched up one on one with Shipley was a misstep for the defense. LB on their best WR in man with no safety help? C'mon man.

To be fair Brackens is a nickelback and came to campus as a safety. It's a mismatch with Shipley but it's not like Jevohn Miller or Alvin Bowen were trying to cover him.

Alvin Bowen is faster than Brackens.

I will say, driving 75 yards for a tying TD with less than 90 seconds remaining is a nice step.

What baffles me with ISU is, what is the time-remaining and field position for an opponent that qualifies as "unrealistic to achieve" (at the end of either half)?

That's what I said after the game when someone asked me what happened. I said Iowa State has a history of finding ridiculous ways to lose games.

Brackens got beat period. He was baited by Shipley and he bit on the move and there was no safety helping. U watch that play and we had nearly every DB within 5 yds of the LOS PRESSING for God knows what reason. Every single play this year we are always giving a 10 hd cushion all damn game every game and the last huge play we press and play man. Inexcusable.
