Has Pollard fired any coaches that he hired himself?
Technically, no, although McDermott taking the Creighton job might have been a "writing on the wall" thing.

I would like to see a statistic on how many Power 5 head coaches have lost to an FCS team two years in a row. I would think CPR is the only one that is still employed that is in that category.
At least with McCarney we could run the football.
Lol. Wut?
I got to say JBH this probably the most accurate post I have seen in a long time on this siteSadly, to me this has been looking like McCarney 2.0 for some time now, except it seems that there isn't going to be that one 9-win season...
Overly-emotional coach who can't translate that emotion into mental toughness on the field
Team constantly exhibits unsound fundamentals
Team constantly comes out not ready to play
Talent below the necessary level to compete in the Big 12
McCarney was a much better recruiter. His players weren't nearly as out of their league athletically compared to the competition as CPR's. The scores the last few seasons have been way more like Walden and Criner than they have been McCarney.
I actually think Rhoads does alright getting some under the radar athletes in the secondary and the offensive skill positions. McCarney's teams lacked that quick twitch aspect in both those areas.McCarney was a much better recruiter. The thing McCarney did so much better was develop the offensive and defensive lines. The gap between what he put on the field and what Rhoads puts on the field is alarming.
It goes to show that the game is, as always, won in the trenches. That is why this team will not make the progress it needs to next year. McKnight has not been able to maximize any of the guys he has had in his time, and it wont start happening overnight.

Emptiest I have seen in a couple years (excluding KU last season that was the coldest game ever). WV game will be fun and lonely.Today was the earliest I have ever left an ISU game. There were probably 38,000 at kickoff. I think everyone has given up.
It seems to me that McCarney coached teams at least competed each and every Saturday. They didn't always look great, but they competed. Some of these Rhoads' coached teams haven't even shown up, much less compete.
Agree. McKnight never seems to get any criticism.
I'd rather have maulers on the OL like OU does than the TE looking guys like we have that can run super fast on treadmills.
