It's pretty amazing to read this thread and see so many jump on the neighbor making the complaint as though somehow in all of this, he is the bad guy.

According to the story, he reported this to the police several times, and seemed to try and handle it before it got to this point. If the meeting with BDJ, the police, the neighbor and CFH did indeed take place, and it was agreed by all that the problems would cease, then they should have stopped. If BDJ just ignored CFH in all this.....then sorry, but I have a problem with that, and I am guessing that CFH might have a problem with it too. It's not like BDJ was a choir boy before he came to Ames. He already had a history, and he was given another chance by CFH. If he then pisses on that relationship and opportunity by not doing what CFH asked him to do.... To me the onus is on him to live up to the agreement. It's not like he is some mis-behaving 16 year old or even a freshman in college. He is a 22 year-old, 5th year senior....it's time to grow up a little bit.

Not saying that BDJ didn't have loud music going, but I have lived in some apartments were the wall were pretty thin. I can recall at one place I lived at were I could here the bed squeaking and the moans from the couple next door making love. Lucky for me though it only lasted a couple of minutes.

So the cops registered 60 decibels outside the apartment? That is what makes this so incredible. That is low...like under normal converstion low. A crowded resturant would be around 80 decibels.....wow.

pretty sure they do the reading outside the building as in the street not outside the actual apartment door. 60 would be loud if it was taken from the street

But would it be against the law loud????

One thing missing here is that as much right as the neighbor has to his rights, BDJ has the right to listen to music at a non-illegal level as well.

I think Hines tweeted that Ames's ordinance for that time of day is 55, so it was technically too loud, but pretty close

Someone posted that 55 is the Ames limit at that time, so yes.

Obviously, these guys have failed at working out their differences. That much is obvious.
In terms of the program, it just comes down to how this relates to the relationship between BDJ and Fred. If it's a matter of blatant disrespect, Fred will handle it. If not, play on and learn to be a good neighbor.

55dB measured at the street between midnight and 7am in Ames.

you're eliminating the possibility that some neighbors are just whiny a-holes. Consider yourself lucky if you've never had one. One neighbor routinely called child services on my parents and my parents were incredible parents. Some neighbors simply want to start ****.

I think bdj is an idiot. I think the neighbor is an idiot. If I lived in a building with athletes I'd expect noise.

This. Fred and Bryce are probably the only ones who know exactly if the neighbor is just whining and over controlling or if Bryce is being a ********* and needs to cut it out. Fred's decision will probably reflect what the actual situation is.

"Dejean-Jones' attorney told ESPN there were four people in the apartment -- Dejean-Jones, teammate and roommate Abdel Nader, Dejean-Jones' brother, and a friend from Los Angeles."

Interesting that the focus is only on Dejean-Jones. Anyway, seems like BDJ and Nader might be crappy neighbors or they might not like their neighbor. No real way to know the personalities of all involved. When I was in college, I saw one kid beat the crap out of this roommate. No specific issue, their personalities just clashed and over time it grew into a big issue. Seems like a change of living arrangements is needed. Too bad it became national news.

So if BDJ started out at 100db and has gotten it down to 60 then he's cool with Fred??? :)

Latest update from the Daily. You guys calling out White, still cool with the living conditions he has put up with?

White said Hoiberg was very strict and direct with Dejean-Jones about his expectations for the senior transfer from UNLV and in White's words, "...did everything that a coach should have been doing."
White described the behavior of Dejean-Jones and his roommates in detail and explained why he could take it no longer.
"They outright leave their trash out in the hallways and there was one morning I came home and the trash was littered all over the hallway," White said. "There is puke in the hallways and every smell that comes into the hallway in this building has been linked to their unit. [There are] parties at all hours of the night, all days of the week. Last night specifically I think it was just them screaming at each other playing video games at 4 a.m."
Noise, garbage and smells, however, are far from the only concern to White, who lives one door down from Dejean-Jones.
White described a particularly vulgar incident that happened recently.
"I came home one day and I noticed there was a note on their door," White said. "Someone else posted it, it was not me. Someone wrote them a nice handwritten letter that said this is what you guys are doing; we do not appreciate it. We would like it if you guys showed more respect.
"A couple hours later that note was on my door with the words 'suck my d***' written on it because they thought I did it. I shrugged it off, put it back on their door and later that night they came pounding on my door with the letter. They were drunk and fights almost happened that night."
White said he has felt physically threatened before but does not believe that Dejean-Jones or his roommate will pursue physical violence.
"I do not feel like they are going to try and do anything physical towards me, but when my mom and friends come over, nobody likes being here," White said.
A person inside Dejean-Jones' apartment did not open the door and declined to comment.

I"m not eliminating that at all, but it really is besides the point. So what you are saying is that because the neighbor might be a whiny little brat, that BDJ should just ignore what CFH asked him to do in the meeting, if it took place as claimed? I don't care what the neighbor did, or what he is like. If it was bad enough that it took a meeting with the police, CFH, BDJ and the neighbor, and BDJ agreed to change the behavior, then he is in the wrong for not doing it. He is not a child. Time to grow up a little and act like a man, not some kind of an idiot.

Plus, like I said before....it is not like BDJ exactly came here with a clean slate. That makes it a lot more believable to me that he could be acting like an ******* in all of this.

Obviously we don't know what Fred's stance is, but I can make the argument that Fred thinks this kid is a loser and BDJ is fine. It will be in the middle, but it goes both ways.

Now KXNO fools are talking about how "the pot was there", so it was there and you have to acknowledge it was there. Are these people Americans? It's an embarrassment.
