The problem is, he really didn't do anything wrong. Otherwise, he'd be looking at more jail time and probably be suspended for the season. Fred only suspended him to put the situation to rest. And before you rehash whats been reported, remember, it is one side of the story, from the cops and the guy who called them. You can take them at their word, but that is rarely the full truth. That is why I never make final judgements in situations like this.

Well didn't he spend the evening in the clink and bring some bad national reporting to the squad?

Playing Devil's Advocate a little, but a high profile player has to know if law enforcement locks you up that the mole hill becomes a mountain (which this is)

If you don't think being a **** is wrong, then I hope I never run into anywhere ever. And color me shocked you don't believe what the media and police are saying.

The best part in all of this is that the hok fans went from thinking they had no chance to now believing that victory is a virtual guarantee for Iowa tomorrow night. I can't wait to see the meltdown when ISU wins despite BDJ being out of the lineup. #getmadagaingoesnuclear

Yeah, even though I've been around them all my life, I still can't believe how ignorant most of them are. We should be fine, Edozie should start and let's hope Matt has a huge game tomorrow.

Right call was made. Glad to know we don't do things the right way. We recruit "thug" transfers who we punish when needed. I sure am glad we don't recruit high school kids that we refuse to punish when they are actually convicted of breaking the law. :jimlad:

In all seriousness, I am glad Hoiberg made the call he did. I know it makes tomorrow's game tougher, but that is a challenge many on this team have accepted before. I hope they come out ready to kick some *** and play their hearts out. I hope BDJ can figure this out so it doesn't happen again. I hope that the guys on the team can figure out a way to put this distraction out of their head. Aside from that, I am done discussing it because it is already more blown up than it should be.

As ****** as this news is and as bad as we are all taking it, imagine being Hoiberg and getting that call or text this morning about this. I'll admit, I've thought at times how awesome it would be to be Fred Hoiberg, today is not one of those days though.

Let's not forget that Fred hadn't even unpacked the boxes in his office when he had to deal with the Boozer incident.

Welcome to the job, Coach!

Just a question...not a flame. Do you really believe that? Or just the typical message board talk with a rival? When it comes to this game any year, to me all bets are off, regardless of matchups, strengths, or who does or doesn't play. The outcome of this one game usually means very little when considering the season's success come March. Guess I look at it, if Fran and co. "don't" win this game with us not having McKay and BDJ and they're at full strength at a hostile Carver, then...... well, ...lets just say I wouldn't want to be them. Pressure is all on them.

I fully believe that. At the end of the day BDJ is one hell of a player and losing him hurts but the thing people seem to be forgetting is that Naz Long, Monte Morris, and Matt Thomas are capable of stepping up in this situation. Hoiball is a system that puts the players in the best possible position to succeed. While BDJ is a great player the Clones have plenty of guys that are more then capable of filling that role collectively.

Keep in mind that Iowa has probably spent a considerable amount of their game prep for ISU designing a gameplan to stop BDJ... now they are coming into the game not having a clue what ISU is going to do. It goes both ways when it comes to the advantage/disadvantage part of this situation for both teams.

At the end of the day... Iowa has a difficult time putting the ball in the basket and that is an area that even without BDJ the Clones still are very good at. My question in this game has always been how is Iowa going to score to keep up with ISU and that question still remains unanswered.

Fred is probably thinking he might as well go to the NBA and make more dough if he has to deal with this BS.
Disappointing to say the least.

Hoiberg told him to cut this crap out so yes suspension is deserved. Still think the kid who called should have handled things differently. Oh well how bdj learns his lesson and starts partying at other peoples places. Oh and when will Iowa make there weed laws more lax. I support legalization but at the very least should be decriminalized to afine.

the kid who called the cops should be shunned by all basketball fans if for only the poor timing of the call. Couldnt wait till after Friday's game?

This is how I feel about Matt White as well. No doubt it sounds like Nader and BDJ are terrible neighbors. I've had bad neighbors as well, and yes, it is frustrating. I didn't call the cops or coaches on them though. I stood up to them and dealt with them, directly to get it resolved, 'like a man'. Nader and BDJ seem like bullies, and the neighbor seems like a whiney little B****. Not a good living environment for either.

You've got to be kidding me. People like you two do not know the history of the situation, yet you call Matt names and want him shunned? Matt stood up for himself and has talked to directly to BDJ and the coaches. Matt has a backbone you and his neighbors don't have.

Sounds like the other guy did that time and time again, ended up having a meeting with police, BDJ, and Fred, and got BDJ's phone number to text him when it was getting too loud... This wasn't a one-time thing where the neighbor calls the cops because BDJ had a couple of friends over. Blaming the neighbor is incredibly stupid

So how does this work? Hello, I want to complain about something that happened last week. Doesn't that just make it his word against yours at that point?

That's the best guess IMO. Makes me a little nervous with the fact that Nader is still pretty rusty, but what better game for him to have a coming out party?

Let's not pretend to know all the fact here. You have one side, by a guy who has spoken to the police. We don't know Bryce's side yet.

It sounds like BDJ was a jerk to live by and the White kid is total spaz.

And of course, as always, the Ames PD is a bunch of total clowns, who overreacted. A bunch of jokers who think they need to train in Swat gear and roll in the tanks when a few drunk college kids throw a party.

Appreciate your answering of the question. Agree the Hoiball system puts players in position to succeed, and don't get me wrong, I LOVE having Matt, Monte, and Naz on our team. But this puts Matt (or Edozie) in the starting lineup and sorry, but BDJ's defense/length and especially "attacking" the basket will not be replaced by those players , at least not with those same strengths. But...hey, love your optimism and I'm hoping you'll be telling me "I told you so" come Friday night. Go Clones!
