How will McKay mess up spacing? Do we run much, if any, "5 out" offense? Put McKay at the post (high or low) and we can still keep the other 4 players out, no matter who they are.

If McKay can handle a hot pass under the boards he won't have any problems. How many did Edozie lose a handle on last night, he looked like freshman Ejim with the butter fingers out there.

This. As the ISU big guy, just hang out and wait for somebody to drive. Half of the time that ball is coming to you.

The big difference between Edozer and McKat will be that Jammer can get up and throw the oop pass down. Edozer has struggled with getting the ball up out of the post because he tends to catch it so low.

If we can start to convert some of those slick passes into the post, look out.

The real key will be that we don't always have to double the post now. We can play 4 out with McKay anchoring the middle, which should improve some of the issues we've had with late rotations on the 3 shooter.

Greenberg is wrong. McKay will help us with rebounding which in return will help with the offensive side. He will will be a great asset to both sides of the floor.

I have to agree with Greenberg here…. I mean seriously, adding a 6'-9" athletic freak with an 8'-6" wingspan and a tendency for throwing his teammates shots to the front row of the seats is going to be a liability. :ptongue:

A player indicated that on the put backs that Edozies getting hit in the elbow and sent to the line - Mckay will be throwing those down. Thats not an analyst, thats someone already watching it in practice!!!!

But Greenberg has always liked ISU and usually talked very very good things. Wouldn't be the first time a basketball analyst had to eat crow over something they said…thats okay…. I mean why would anyone think that adding the only player EVER to win the NJCAA Player of the Year award twice improve our team? How stupid are you kool aid drinkin fools….

Remember others have failed in the past:
Gary Parrish: "Hoiberg hire at ISU a gamble that could fail miserably"

Good Call Greenberg….Remember being man enough to admit you were wrong will garner respect then not saying anything at all!!!!!

Welcome Jameel…..We're anxious for your ISU introduction with a willing Drake team set to work out the spacing kinks!!!!

At this point, everything is just a blind guess. Until McKay actually plays Hoiball, nobody has any idea. BDJ is a completely different player from the past 4 years of D1 experience. Hoiball changed Kane last year. Did anyone think Royce White would play Point-Forward until we saw it happen when he started playing Hoiball? Until McKay is on the floor logging Hoiball minutes, no one knows what he will become.

You're correct. Greenberg evidently believes that a guy has to be able to shoot the three to play in Fred's system. That's not true. Shooting the three helps, but it's not a make or break for being able to score effectively.

Greenberg's probably the only person in this thread that has sat at an ISU practice and watched the kid play.

but but........we have seen his youtube highlight videos. :twitcy:

Greenberg shows up for 1 or 2 practices and is now an expert? Back to back Juco AA was for nothing. I don't think he is going to be Embiid, but I think you stick him in the middle of this current roster, giving him 15-25 min / game - i think he can make a big impact. Having him and Edozie allows Niang / Houge / Nadar to be more aggressive on the defensive end knowing that if they pick up 2 fouls, they can sit for 10 minutes and its not the end of the world like it has been the past years.

Just an FYI. There's a big difference between an 86" wingspan and an 8'6" wingspan.

With as excited as Monte is about Jameel coming in, I don't think he's going to hurt us. Jameel can make a big impact, not as a star player but he'll be very important on defense, rebounding, and with his energy. Should be some fun dunks from him as well

I think his biggest impact will be on things outside of scoring. He'll be a legit rebounder and pick up some second chance buckets, but mainly its about added depth and putting other player in better situations, such as Niang avoiding foul trouble again other big centers, or Hogue moving up to the 3 where he can fly around the court rebounding and kungfu kicking mofos.
