I'm guessing the "Club seats" are the temporary seating which aren't Cyclone Alley on the floor.

542 of them?

I'm thinking they may be the seats that are inside the "wall" of the bottom of the lower bowl. There are 5-6 rows of pull out seats.

I think the Hilton renovations are still part of the long term plan and I'm going to guess that is what JP will start to focus on after the SEZ is finished. With the current success of the basketball program(s) it should be priority to upgrade facilities. What that will entail, I'll be anxious to find out. I think suites are necessary at some point but adding capacity should be included. The concourses and corners have potential for that. The attached practice facility would be the cherry on top.

Increase capacity by 500, sure. Increase by 1000+, no thanks.

This is not needed with our current great facilities we all ready have. What could take the place of practice facilities would be a smaller venue (say seating for 4000) for vollyball and wrestling. Hiltons main area could be used for the really big matches for both sports.

I agree.

I think the VB and wrestling programs would both be enhanced with this type of venue, especially VB for it to compete with the top programs in the country.

Regarding Hilton, leave the seating bowl as-is. There is absolutely no reason to needlessly hose up something special with suites. Expanding Johnny’s is a much better aesthetic and economical alternative to serve the needs of high-end donors.

All of these ideas cater only to the wealthy/businesses. I sometimes think you all forget we an agricultural state school. As it is we already cater to business clients before everyone else and these changes will only make it harder for regular photo come to games.

I see what you're saying, but we need those who have the big bucks to fork it out if we want to keep having nice things. Successful football and basketball generally cost money.

They shouldn't go out of their way to appease the people who fork over the least money. I want to do a lot of things and can't afford to. Iowa State basketball shouldn't hold itself back just to make sure everyone can afford it. Take the 14,000 willing to pay the most and get them into Hilton.

I get what you are saying. But do you only want children of business execs to become fans by going to games? We need to get as many people into games as possible. That's why the JTS corners are such a great idea.

If there was a same day standing room only option, it would help "anybody" to come for a single game at a pretty cheap price that would help build support among those other than biz execs.

For who?

Businesses who get tax write offs? Sure. Students? Hell yeah. Regular fans who want to get tickets? Not so much. Next year lower section seating is $5k minimum donation. How many regular guys can take their kids to games at that price? How many kids will get to experience Hilton magic during a great game next year?

I'm not saying we shouldn't demand what the market will bear but rather remember who makes Iowa State basketball special. Is the next young Fred Hoiberg out there but his family can't get tickets? Why not make one section alumni with kids only? Why not commit to bringing in young fans for every game?

Think of all those potential young Hoibergs that live too far away. The AD should pay those family's travel expenses so they are able to attend every game in the best seats.

There are tickets as low as $26 for a conference game and there were plenty of cheaper ones for the non-conference games. You do not need to attend all home games and sit in the most premium seats to experience Hilton Magic.

We are remembering, which is why ISU MBB is still a bargain.

So you have to sit in the lower bowl to experience Hilton Magic? There's not really a bad seat in the house and upper deck seats aren't terribly priced.

Don't disagree about ceiling, but it looked that way in the 80's also. Part of it stems from the design to enhance acoustics.

Yeah I thought I had heard that the ceiling was designed to make it louder inside. Also, its a ceiling, who the **** cares what it looks like?

There is a description of the Johnny's renovation and expansion project up on the FPM website now. Appears that Johnny's will open to the inner concourse after the expansion. I'm guessing the outer concourse will curve in and merge with the inner concourse in that area to accommodate this project.

THIS PROJECT WILL RENOVATE JOHNNY'S AT HILTON COLISEUM BY EXPANDING ACROSS THE OUTER CONCOURSE, RELOCATING THE EXISTING CONCESSION STAND AND CREATING A NEW ENTRANCE WHICH OPENS TO AND OVERLOOKS THE INNER CONCOURSE OF HILTON COLISEUM
