I think it's been discussed a lot that Thomas just over thinks but when he doesn't have time to think and just shoots he's fine. Buzzer beater at halftime in Carver for example. His defense has improved tremendously over last year though IMO

2) Whenever this team has had any adversity this season, they pout and whine. A far cry from last season. This team misses Kane and Ejim as leaders really bad. The players that are suppose to be leaders are the ones I'm talking about doing this.

Kane whined a lot last year. It's dumb to say things like this because you're talking about a team last year that played the whole season, and this one isn't even to conference games yet. There were a bunch of people last year that were not too impressed with Kane during that early 3 game conference losing streak. Let's let this year play out before we start crying because we want Kane & Ejim back.

By the way, IMO, BDJ & McKay >>>> Kane & Ejim.

Frank totally out-coached Fred. We looked disorganized in the half-court set and can't create O unless in transition.

I don't think Frank had much to due with us missing about 10 wide open 3 three pointers or FTs. If Naz and Georges don't hit their 3s, we will always struggle.

This is going to be in the bad loss column come March.

Its not a good loss, what one is? But I don't see it as a "bad" loss. If the SEC is as crappy as they say, then why can't Martin's team finish in the top half of that league? Kept trying to say there was a reason they beat Okie State by 26, but everyone wanted to say that it was because Okie State was crap. Not buying it. Bottom line...do we use this game and get better because of it. We needed a game like this. West Virginia will be just like it, among others. Let the Big12 begin.

you serious, Clark? I believe all 3 of those games were to teams better than the teams ISU has lost to this year. I mean it's early but Kane (one of the best PG last year) and Ejim (Big 12 POTY) are not worse than what I've seen out of BDJ and McKay.

Amen. Just hate the rationale: "hard to win when you aren't hitting your 3's" - then use your superior talent (which we had tonight) by taking it to the hole and make them guard you. But that takes work, and being "physical" right back...

Well it becomes very difficult to get to the hoop when they are packing the paint because there's no need to guard the perimeter.

I wouldn't say we live & die by the three, but it is crucial to make a few in order for the defense to respect our spacing.

Iowa state has beat no one good. Arkansas and iowa are terrible. Arkansas has only beat one team from a power conference and that was wake forest. Iowa beat unc and Ohio state but neither of those teams are great either. ISu fans dipped into the kool aid a little to early this year

Question to C-dubs: why does it take four clicks and like three different page loads to place someone on ignore?

Frankly it's just dang frustrating to lose a game like this. Getting outplayed is one thing, but shooting like we've never held a basketball before is just so annoyingly frustrating. I thought the first time was a fluke, but now it's twice in 12 games. I'm a little nervous.

Lost by 4. Hit avg. or close on FT's and it doesn't happen.

I'd be more concerned if I were a KU fan, honestly.

Maryland loss isn't looking bad at all anymore, this one is terrible yes, but I'm just saying there was a time last year that many were not pleased with Kane, then he obviously finished great.

Maybe BDJ won't be close by the end of season, but geez at least give him and this team a chance.

I would say we live and die by the three. If we're not making them, teamwork and poise go off the tracks.

We will always struggle. Such is NCAA basketball.

There are going to be games like this away from home. It's tough to shoot into unfamiliar backgrounds and to unfamiliar rims. ISU is good enough that they will still shoot well in a decent number of road/neutral games but they'll have to learn to adjust the plan if they are struggling. McKay's play seemed to be a positive so maybe he becomes Pan B. Since I didn't see the game, were his points mostly down low in the paint? It seems like he was able to draw fouls and get to the line well. That always works well against more physical teams. Maybe they start running him some sets to do this in games like that.

ISU has a three games stretch of games against teams with some size that can grind it out in @WV, @Baylor and vs. KU. Should be interesting to see how they adjust. I watched the Baylor/OU game today and Baylor is pretty good defensively. They struggle to score a bit but they really get after it with a nasty zone defense. I haven't seen WV play but they force a ton of turnovers and are reported to be pretty physical as well.
