We just had a thread about this a couple weeks ago. Plenty of renovation opportunities.

- Widen outer concourse out to the pillars
- Johnnys expansion (this is already in the works)
- possibly add suite\loge seat options.
- redo the ceiling, especially in the middle, add LED lighting (projection too would be nice)
- replace the seats entirely (we did a cosmetic half-fix about 10 years ago now)
- new videoboards (also approaching 10 years old now)
- a thorough cleaning of all concrete inside and out might be a good idea.

I dont see a complete rebuilding ever happening. The costs for that would be just astronomical. It took us how long just to get the SEZ rolling, imagine how long it'd take to get a project 10x the size rolling.

U of Phoenix stadium (home of the Feb 1st SuperBowl) recently changed to all LED lighting. Saving a buttload of energy of course but they also claim a noticeable improvement for HD and especially Slo-Mo.

How much more can we really spend on FB? We've upgraded the practice facilities, we're finishing the stadium, etc. Increased staff pay might be one thing but lets save that until we actually find successful staff worth spending the money on.

We've dumped $100mil into football facilities already. Time to reward the most successful program on campus, the one generating the most excitement in the fanbase

How do you or anyone else expect to "reward" the program? From the money tree growing outside the Jacobson Building? Unless someone or someones decide to donate a bunch of money, there won't be any major projects happening until debt service is paid down, at least 5 years out, or a corporate sponsor comes on board, like at Illinois. And I am sure that would go over real well with most cyfans.

Well that money would have to be there for football too. When the money is available, its first priority should be basketball at this point.

My guess right now, is for the forseeable future, it's all going to hinge on the filling of JTS. Seems we've kind of banked a lot on those renovations, so if we have to spend too much time paying those off, it's going to cut into any money we'd spend on Hilton. I'm not a finance guy though, so I could be totally off, these are just my thoughts. I hope we didn't put all of our eggs in one big football basket, but it seems, with our budget, that paying that off would be priority.

The money for football is already spent, but I agree to an extent. Still would like to see a press box renovation/expansion. I almost would prefer to see capacity at Hilton raised another 1500 or so as opposed to adding suites. But thats not up to me.

We all have impossible dreams. One of the many that I have is that ISU AD has been squirreling money away to make a big time play for the next FB coach. However, given all of the debt service that the AD has, I kind of doubt it...

From Jamie last night on KXNO:

-No more upgrades in the near future for football stadium - specifically no new press box.
-Hilton - doesn't want to make changes or add suites and take a chance of ruining the atmosphere. Suites were floated as an option to raise revenue to pay for the basketball practice facility. However since Dickson Jensen gave the donation for the bb practice facility, suites were dropped.

JP speaks straight. He says they have never even seriously considered the press box renovation.

It was a bit of a cheap shot to say that people should read message boards for "humor" not info.

Given the momentum of the program, and plans released in 2007 to renovate Hilton which have not been mentioned in years, will we see any construction in the near future? Having been to quite a few venues across college basketball and in sports overall, its pretty clear that Hilton needs a facelift badly, in terms of modern amenities. The main reason I can think of nothing too major being done is that the building is in a floodplain, and there have been two massive flood events in the last decade. I'm curious to know if they will continue to put money into Hilton long-term, or just let it age and build a new arena in 20, 30, or 40 years, outside the floodplain.
The reason venues do that is to increase ticket demand. Hilton does not have a demand problem. If anything quite the opposite. They aren't moving Hilton or tearing it down. Ever.

Only upgrade I want at this point is remote controlled shutters over the lights so we can have awesome intros and add to the atmosphere.
Yep... they did it for the stevie wonder concert when I was seven so you know it's possible :)

BUT the point remains, yeah would be nice but why do it if you don't need it to attract fans?
